Thassos Cruise: Full-Day BBQ & Swim Review
So, you are thinking of booking that Thassos full-day cruise with a BBQ and some swim stops, right? Maybe, just maybe, you want to know what it’s really like? We went on one, and are ready to give you the inside scoop. The lowdown. The full picture. Every detail. Stuff to get you prepared for what may be one incredible outing around one amazing Greek island.
Setting Sail from Thassos: The Start of the Adventure
First, it is almost like all adventures begin with anticipation. Actually, sometimes with a bit of a sleepy haze if the departure is super early! Ours started from Limenas, which is that main port town of Thassos. The harbor had quite the lively atmosphere. Picture this, like your boat is waiting there, with those crystal-clear Aegean waters lapping softly against the hull. Just a little exciting, right? Checking in was so, so easy. Then everyone found a spot on the boat. The vibe was very cheerful; everyone was clearly eager to get going! It might be good to arrive a bit early so you can nab the best spot. You could even get a place right at the front for uninterrupted views or settle on the more sheltered deck if the sun’s rays are maybe, perhaps too much that day.
Cruising the Thassian Coastline: Views and Vibes
Now, cruising along that Thassian coastline, well, it is quite a feast for your eyes. Actually, it is almost meditative, that blue sea stretching out to meet this sky is a calming balm. The coast has a variety of visuals from those dramatic cliffs that drop straight into the sea to those beaches hidden in snug little inlets. Seriously, make sure that you have a camera ready. Every angle offers the picture. The sea air, a bit salty, is actually invigorating and that sunshine, quite warm, makes you really glad you escaped for a day out on this boat. I mean, it is more or less paradise, yeah? The boat’s route usually covers some of the amazing sights of Thassos. Some that stick out might be those marble beaches and the iconic Giola lagoon. A lot of times, the crew will share a bit about these sights. In that case, you might even pick up some cool information about the geology or just local legends.
Swim Stops: Crystal Waters and Hidden Gems
Swimming. Okay, now swimming is a high point of this whole cruise. Like, the boat typically stops at different spots picked because, as a matter of fact, the waters there are like sparkling jewels. It’s almost that you could see, quite clearly, to the bottom! Some locations are more secluded, maybe, possibly, bays that aren’t reachable by land, which makes that swimming experience very private. Just, it can be wonderfully serene. In fact, those water temperatures were so, very inviting, particularly after baking in the sun for hours. Snorkeling gear is sometimes available, too, but it would be good to check. Bringing that yourself is also, as I was saying, something to look into, as there can be that whole different dimension by seeing that underwater life in these clear waters. In that case, that vibrant marine life is right below the surface.
BBQ on Board: A Feast with a View
Lunch time! So, the BBQ. Very good indeed. Like, it isn’t only filling but it is also so very delicious with those smells floating around on deck driving everyone’s anticipation. This boat has this whole grilling setup and prepares this very yummy assortment of meats and salads, plus some Greek specialties, too! You do get to eat out on deck which lets you soak in those coastline views while you’re chowing down. First, the lunch felt really abundant and there’s almost enough for everyone, which makes the experience so relaxed and happy. Some cruises often will make it a point to provide options for diets that are needed. You know, vegetarian or any allergy needs are typically easy to sort out, but maybe just let the crew know when you are booking. Actually, food and drinks, that day on the boat is definitely one highlight and it can make that whole day that much better.
What to Bring for Your Thassos Cruise
Going out on that full-day cruise? Basically, here is a couple of essentials for making sure your trip has nothing in the way of comfort and fun. Basically, sunscreen is something to have, particularly the kind that has quite a high SPF rating, you are just a little bit more vulnerable when out on the open water. Some sunglasses are a great thing to take. Honestly, with glare coming off of the sea all day long your eyes will enjoy having them. Now, if you have that favorite beach towel make sure that you are taking it, also, it’s very good to have for drying off following those swim stops, also, very good as a comfortable place on deck as you stretch out. Even though they may have some drinks there on the boat it still could be a great move if you have this water bottle to take. Honesty, being out in that sun can take the water right out of you, in that case staying well hydrated is actually a thing to be on top of. Just, perhaps bring that waterproof bag for keeping anything safe which could include your phone, camera, or every valuable while close to that water. Don’t forget that camera. To be honest, you can find photo-ops every where when you are touring those scenic vistas around Thassos!
Is the Thassos Full-Day Cruise Worth It?
Actually, after touring around Thassos with a boat for that whole day with those swim stops and this BBQ, here is my hot take, to be honest: yes! Honestly, this cruise is more or less some superb value, just combining some relaxing sightseeing with just that bit of adventure. It may be a chance to get some angles on this isle which any traveler just would not get. I mean, a relaxing, distinct kind of fun is almost certain! Very great when you might just want to add that little pizzazz when visiting Thassos. It is alright if you’re there, give this a go for real.
