South Kos Boat Beaches: An Honest Review

Kos, that little jewel of the Dodecanese, it’s often whispered about, right, mostly for its history and cycling routes. But what people sometimes overlook, it seems, is that the southern coast boasts beaches that are, in some respects, just perfect for exploring by boat. So, recently I gave myself a treat, too, a boat trip to see these beauties firsthand. And let me tell you, very few experiences compete.

Setting Sail: Choosing the Right Boat Tour

Okay, so when looking into boat tours, I figured it’s good to do a bit of homework first, usually. Kos has, it seems to me, its fair share of options. I checked out, for example, different tour companies, paid very close attention to what past travelers thought about the experiences. Things to keep in mind are the size of the boat, more or less. Do you fancy, in a way, something cozy with just a few others or something a bit livelier with a bigger group, that, that kind of thing? Also, and this is, actually, a pretty big one, think about the itinerary. What beaches are you most keen to visit, right?

Kardamena to Paradise Beach: A Bumpy Start

My trip actually began in Kardamena, alright, that is a resort town well-known for its nightlife. Paradise Beach was the destination, very famous because of its, kind of, bubbly waters. The boat was, actually, a decent size. We left the harbor and immediately got thrown around, somewhat, by some pretty choppy waves, it almost felt like. Now, I’m no stranger to the sea, but I saw a couple of faces turn a shade of green that might be, I don’t know, quite alarming. Still, very early in the ride the staff handed out seasickness tablets. I thought, very clever!

Paradise Beach: Bubbles and Bliss

About 40 minutes later we were there, finally at Paradise Beach. And honestly, right, the rough ride, well it all felt worth it. This beach, that, it actually stands out because of the volcanic gases which create a bubbly effect in the water, slightly. It felt rather odd, if I am being truthful, to swim in fizzy seawater, that, it’s just a very unique feeling, in some respects. The beach itself, that, it has soft sand. And it’s almost like you have a few places to grab food and drinks. I would say, you should get there early. That way you snag a great sunbed because Paradise Beach is just very popular. It should also be said that boat tours give you, too it’s almost, only an hour or two on the beach. This gives you enough time for a swim, very short relaxation period, that sort of thing, alright.

Camel Beach: A Quieter Escape

Next on the list was Camel Beach, in a way, a totally different vibe compared to Paradise Beach. It’s sheltered from the wind. And Camel Beach has, too, almost, golden sand and crystal-clear water. The landscape here, so, it’s a bit dramatic, really. You can see high cliffs that surround the bay. The beach takes, I guess, its name from the camel which stands near the entrance, actually offering rides for those who are, right, interested in a little something unique, too it’s almost. I did not ride the camel myself, actually. But I really liked the calmer feel. I could really unwind away from, sort of, the bubbly madness of Paradise, basically. We only had about an hour here, and that, for me, I just swam a little bit, got myself a cold drink from, kind of, the small taverna, and just, literally, soaked in the sun.

Magic Beach: Hidden Gem Discovered

Our final stop was, actually, at Magic Beach. So named because of its almost enchanting beauty, very nearly. To get there the boat went to, almost, a tiny, kind of, secluded cove. The water was turquoise and perfectly clear, literally like something from, like your, a postcard. The sand there, right, almost felt unbelievably soft between my toes. A little small it is, so it is quite cozy, actually, and the cove setting, too it’s almost, creates a relaxed place away from it all. We all stayed here for roughly 90 minutes, typically. I used my time for a spot of snorkeling. The water, very clear, and the small rock formations provided home to lots of small sea life, too. Magic Beach was very easily my favourite. And honestly, I could very happily have stayed all day. In some respects, it really lived up to, too it’s almost, its name.

Lunch on Board: A Pleasant Surprise

Around midday, and I thought, as well, this really stood out. I was impressed at the meal, too it’s almost, that the crew had, as a matter of fact, made for everyone. So, it’s often like you expect something simple, typically. But they provided a great buffet lunch, sort of, with traditional Greek salad, grilled chicken, tzatziki, things like that. I did, in fact, think that there was plenty for everyone. And sitting on deck in the sun, that, well eating good food and watching the coastline drift past. Very hard to argue with that, arguably, that, that, sort of, made things special.

The Return Trip: Sun, Sea, and Satisfaction

As we sailed back towards Kardamena, literally, everyone seemed super chilled, pretty much. The sun was starting to dip lower, that, the sea glittered, too it’s almost. Some passengers relaxed up on deck. People told each other their favourite spots, too, almost. And some even began, actually, planning a return trip for, arguably, next year, that, something I completely understand. The atmosphere, alright, it was just so friendly. Very clearly the crew had created, right, a brilliant day out for all, literally, from young families to older couples, that sort of thing, right?

Would I Recommend It?

So, very simply, would I say this trip is, in a way, worth it? Absolutely, definitely. Okay, so you might get bounced about on the waves a bit, alright. Still, the experience of, actually, seeing those beaches from the water. And just stopping off to swim and sunbathe is completely unparalleled, literally, it really is. South Kos has beaches that are very lovely. A boat tour, for example, it gives you a way of visiting more than you ever, almost, could otherwise. Take some sunscreen, and a towel. And definitely, by the way, bring a camera. Then be ready for a relaxed time looking at some, sort of, some seriously wonderful places, actually.
