The sea is beautifully crystalline, usually, perfect for swimming, that is. Because the beach shelves quickly, this could be something to consider with kids. My thoughts? Yeah, Zlatni Rat is definitely handsome, certainly; I’d not go quite so far as saying it completely lives up to all the hype, you see. It can get packed, rather, and the shingle isn’t really the most comfortable to lie on for long stretches. A solid pair of swimming shoes, typically, isn’t a bad shout. Also, maybe a good book. The views, though, they actually do merit the visit. You need, even though, to know going in that you won’t be having the place all to yourself. One last thought: bring something to protect you from the sun! It gets fairly hot out there.

Should you are chasing a super peaceful, off-the-beaten-track sort of experience, you probably won’t find it here. But! Should you fancy seeing Zlatni Rat from the water, have fun and excitement with a crowd and have a delicious dinner outdoors, while sunbathing and watching landscapes, then this actually is a brilliant little outing. Just keep in the back of your mind that it can get really rather crowded, that is. And, actually, go armed with swimwear, sunscreen, and, definitely, an appetite for adventure.

If you like your holidays more spontaneous, you may find the boat trips and its timings slightly irritating. You may wish to, instead, go off at random to fulfill those spontaneous urges and longings, something the day trip would disallow. If that is the case, then just be aware.
