Airlie Beach Sunset Cruise: An Honest Review
Okay, so you are thinking of doing a sunset cruise out of Airlie Beach, right? Pretty understandable! Those postcards do paint quite the picture, too. It shows gentle breezes, super orange skies, plus maybe a dolphin jumping. Sounds awesome, doesn’t it? We checked out the Airlie Beach Sundowner Cruises and that’s why we are telling you our experience. Like your experience it was pretty interesting, as a matter of fact.
What To Expect On Board
First of all, just so you know, this ain’t no wild party boat, right? It’s a super chill vibe. The boat that you see in the pictures is really well kept, so too it has spots up top to take everything in, or you could be, you know, covered down below. The crew, it seems to me, they clearly do this all the time because they’re very relaxed but actually pay pretty good attention, in my view. Drinks-wise, more or less you are looking at your typical vacation cocktails, beers, along with stuff that has no alcohol if you are into that, right? Don’t be expecting drinks that are super fancy or anything, that seems fair.
The Sunset Views…Really?
Alright, so let’s talk sunset since this is a sunset cruise after all. Yeah, so sometimes the sunset actually blows your mind, with these intense pinks and purples all just mirroring across the water. And sometimes, that’s a bit uneventful and kinda fades fast, right? See, the Whitsundays weather actually does whatever it wants, even though it’s advertised as tropical, that’s true. On our particular cruise, actually, there were a bunch of clouds which still made for a different sort of beautiful scenery. If, arguably, you are expecting that absolutely Instagram-perfect moment, just realize that actually the Mother Nature is running the show.
Food And Drink Situation
OK, so the food is basically appetizers. I mean we’re talking cheeses, tiny sandwiches, some veggie sticks that’s sort of thing, so too it’s passable. Really this doesn’t take away from anything, at the end of the day. Actually, nobody seems to be coming just for a fancy meal, alright? Most folks appear more into catching the scenery plus sipping a drink. Like your own experiences, similar to mine is the same is that the drinks aren’t cheap, though. That’s understandable because of island economics, alright?
Wildlife Watching, Too?
Ok, so the website often mentions seeing a ton of wildlife along the trip. Although seeing turtles, which is great, sometimes, you mostly see a few fish jumping, alright? Every so often there might be dolphins, though in general, if seeing wildlife up close actually really excites you, think about one of the daytime snorkel or dive excursions. Those definitely will focus more on that sort of thing, seriously.
Overall Vibe and Is It Worth It?
Honestly, if you’re okay with taking it slow, right? And want pictures that have great views? In short, it’s basically that. But seriously if it’s absolutely perfect sea life or sunset picture goals that drive you? You may just feel let down just a bit.
