Zadar’s Top 3 Stops: Review & Cold Drink Guide
Zadar, Croatia – oh, very much is it a jewel on the Adriatic coast! And, it seems to be that I was lucky enough to experience a slice of its beauty myself. Now, what I really wanna do is share some standout spots from my trip. Get ready for my personal tour, too it’s loaded with local insights and recommendations on just where to grab a perfect cold drink to beat that Croatian sunshine!
The Roman Forum: Echoes of the Past
Alright, my first stop was, of course, the Roman Forum, arguably the biggest Roman complex on the Croatian side of the Adriatic. Stepping onto these ancient stones, well, that definitely felt like taking a stroll right into history. That massive public square, it’s really quite hard to not get a feel for what Zadar may have been like back when the Romans really did run things.
The Forum you will find is actually surrounded by remnants of temples and columns that stood so tall centuries ago, you know. Very worth mentioning too it’s the “Pillar of Shame,” that I just learned was once actually used to publicly humiliate lawbreakers. Can you really picture that?
When the heat gets just a little intense, and that can happen quickly, let’s head over to Forum Cafe that you will find close by. It’s really such a perfect location, right on the edge of the forum that it gives views of everything while sipping on some cold refreshment. I definitely tried their iced coffee; just like I like it, you know – creamy and strong. Very much worth every single Kuna!
Sea Organ: Nature’s Symphony
The Sea Organ, anyway, is something else altogether. Imagine sitting on those stone steps, really just watching the ocean, as the sea sort of “plays” this haunting music. Now, that sounds a little strange if I didn’t mention it but the waves push air through cleverly crafted pipes that really make these melodic sounds; definitely creating a peaceful – maybe even contemplative – experience. It is a seriously perfect spot, even for meditation. You know you can do whatever.
The guy who put the whole thing together, his name is Nikola Bašić. Like your, the sea pushes air that passes through thirty-five polyethylene pipes that sit directly under the concrete steps. When you put your ear close, the tones, very they’re kind of enchanting and always just a little varied – so they change over time. Now the result? So amazing, you are likely to not wanna move at all from the area, but there is always more to see on vacation, you know!
The Cafe Bar Brazil which actually sits directly on the waterfront there is actually a brilliant option. Like your options there you will find a variety of drinks, you know and they all range, like everything everywhere does in price, and really does bring just a small bit of paradise. A cold Ožujsko beer did the trick for me! It’s the go to in Croatia.
Greeting to the Sun: A Solar Spectacle
The Greeting to the Sun which again I found there close by too is an absolutely must see. During the day, that large circle made out of glass panels captures the sunshine and stores energy. Come sunset, there the panel’s light display turns into a just hypnotic, very pretty display of lights. That whole spectacle arguably blends well with that famous Zadar sunset which you can easily just find online in images. It is just something that I needed to take in.
Back to Nikola Bašić; it is really hard to just pass this guy. We can praise him and talk about that creation as a symbol that kind of blends art, that setting sun, too it’s just right on top of those stunning colors of the Adriatic horizon that’s literally there to observe and consider as much as you please.
Really super close you will see Arsenal Zadar, very, that’s inside a cool historical building. Too it’s just not only it gives a nice reprieve from being out on the lights all day, and from any potential crowd, but it can bring something for that tummy. To mention – their terrace it kind of delivers great people watching spots.
So, Zadar, really it’s much more than history. So its artistic displays can offer this glimpse in, a special memory in this tourist friendly and touristy environment! Too it’s very rare where there isn’t one place to chill, grab a drink, relax from traveling around. In the end you really will enjoy all of the wonders on offer that very Croatia brings in from those shores!
