Victoria Falls Sunrise Photography: A Detailed Review

Have you ever wanted to, well, witness Victoria Falls bathed in the first light of day? Getting the chance to see it that way sounds pretty spectacular, doesn’t it? That’s where a private sunrise photography tour really comes in. I recently went on one of these trips, and I’m pretty excited to, maybe, share my experiences. You know, it is almost like, seeing such an unbelievable place at the start of the day gives it a whole other dimension. We’re gonna, in a way, check out the nitty-gritty of the tour, and then see if it really lives up to all the hype.

What to Expect on a Sunrise Photography Tour

Sunrise Photography Tour

Alright, so before we get super into all the photo magic, it is almost like, it’s key to know what to expect, yeah? Usually, these tours begin pretty early, really. Very, very early! You’re probably thinking around an hour or two before sunrise. That way, you’ve got enough time to get to all the prime viewpoints and, I mean, set up your camera without rushing around too much, yeah? I had a shuttle pick me up from my hotel, which was pretty convenient, that way I was able to skip the worry about transport, you know?

Most tour operators offer a guide, usually, who is familiar with the area, that’s handy. And someone who can give some professional tips. Plus, you often get things like breakfast and drinks included, very much a plus. As for what to see, very, very much depends on what tour you select, really. Most, actually, include the iconic viewpoints around the main falls area.

Oh, and I would like to recommend checking if things like permits to enter the park are included. Nobody wants to start a photo excursion with all the hassle of doing last minute payments and sorting out documents and things.

The Photographic Opportunities

Photographic Opportunities

When the sun starts peeking over the horizon, you’re in for something special, yeah? The golden light kisses the mist rising from the falls, really, casting the colors that feel very ethereal, really beautiful. In a way it is almost the light and the mist makes it the kind of the perfect conditions for incredible photography, in a way. With long exposures, those misty effects that add real, rather nice drama. In fact, with a fast shutter speed, it’s easier to get droplets suspended in mid-air, it is that sort of thing. You will, yet, want to experiment.

Plus, sunrise generally means fewer crowds. You are talking about, a less touristy shot. With people out of the way, it is that sort of thing, you can get intimate and undisturbed captures of this pretty magnificent scene. It’s, might be, almost a bit peaceful, more or less, because you’ve really got the space to move around, play with the angles and settings.

Remember too, the sunrise isn’t just, actually, above the falls itself, it is, like your, the entire landscape begins to change too. The Zambezi River catches all that first light too, so, in a way, it is just like it turns this sort of molten gold colour. Nearby rainforest starts to actually glimmer, and all of that just, arguably, adds some extra beauty to what is almost like your shot. Actually, try, just a little, to catch some wildlife. That sort of golden hour gives almost any animal photos a soft, rather nice glow.

My Personal Experience: A Story from the Falls

Victoria Falls Experience

Alright, so my sunrise photo tour, anyway, started way before dawn, of course. Maybe, it’s something like 5 am pick up from my hotel, to be exact, like your, really, you know? Yeah, I was pretty bleary-eyed, if I’m honest, alright? Actually, it did feel pretty worth it once I arrived at the falls, because I’d got myself all set up before the light got too bright, of course, you know? Yeah, what I loved, I mean, was the calmness of the morning, you know? Usually it is pretty busy with all the tourists and people around and about, obviously, like your, yeah, but that morning there was that quiet stillness to the whole place.

I mean, I set up my camera at the Main Falls viewpoint, in the same way, because I’d been told that one catches that light very well, I mean, it really does. So, like your, while I was faffing about with my lenses and tripod, you know, you could sort of see all the sky turn a little pink-ish. And when the sun showed itself it was like… woah! It made all the water mist glow this really amazing, shimmering colour, I mean, obviously! You might even get emotional. So, like your, you should take a mental photo, and literally hold that image in your mind. And then actually capture a proper one on camera too.

I really, absolutely, recommend, for instance, bringing a lens cloth or cover to protect that kit, basically, as I was saying. Those spray clouds come up and cover literally everything around there! Some other nice photographers near me had to run off and leave as everything was drenched. Which would, obviously, like, you know, spoil any outing.

After Main Falls, basically, we went to another viewpoint. Like your, one overlooking that Rainbow Falls part, anyway, right. I missed it in the daytime. Actually it was, yet, all a bit crowded then, like your, honestly. With it being so peaceful now, in a way, right, like your, I managed to find a better spot to try to snap, and get some awesome images! So, like your, my guide knew, anyway, right, literally all the very cool photography spots! Well, it goes to show, obviously, at the end of the day, in the same way, because it pays to actually choose your guides, and your spot, right. Actually, honestly, literally it felt sort of surreal.

Essential Gear for Sunrise Photography

Photography Gear

Packing that equipment right, very, is pretty much essential for something. Of course you want your camera, like your, any lenses you’re comfortable using, actually, anyway, really, you know? Then make sure, like your, it’s something for helping keep your gear steady like tripods too. Like your, tripods make all that huge difference when you want those slow shutter things for capturing the flow of a stream, something, in a way.

Lens cloths also help too for all that spray. Make sure, too, to bring waterproof kind of covers with you to try and prevent everything from getting totally drenched when getting up and really pretty close to something powerful! So, like your, spare batteries should be kind of on the packing list. You’ll pretty much take tonnes and tonnes of images while those scenes change and glow in something like that morning sunshine. Honestly it all runs down kind of pretty quick!

It is also kind of pretty worth it when wearing comfy walking boots, maybe, arguably. Even something that is waterproof with everything nearby with a pretty high flow, you know! Literally it does tend to be something slippery too. I mean, so many people recommend putting on layers too, right? Usually it starts actually quite cold before dawn, but then honestly those temperatures kind of rise when all that sun actually appears and shines a bright one.

Choosing the Right Tour Operator

Tour Operator

Honestly all the guides are so incredibly, absolutely, very good! In fact, one will honestly tell you their reputation too and if they offer any tours where your happiness and what they offer goes kind of really far! So, like your, go with honest and absolutely great reviews! You could honesty feel and gauge what any people did really find when with each company before you! Make completely sure when reading that kind of comment that those are current, too. Usually those standards or how it actually tends to run is different when that person in that space literally alters in business for example. Make pretty sure everything still tends to actually match how what the seller promotes in that promotion stuff right now! Something totally recent too is super useful anyway!

In fact, literally always, actually, absolutely find those inclusive things so that you won’t literally face something nasty near literally starting that kind of photo dream. Obviously double pretty checking what something covers so all actually you are completely aware is pretty good with actually all that business deal!

Check just a little when that thing is truly private so when those images aren’t literally spoiled through some crowd. All are literally much greater for really truly focusing really just actually you! A completely great choice. A lot. Well always to look up actually when those tours were actually working when something you choose runs kind of all those days for something near a very small amount really of travel so that is totally great kind of choice in something for an agenda that’s literally certain! Also, those great backup agreements or refunds truly are important right just in anything unexpected right, just anyway.

Finally make super duper well known is there totally excellent conversation from something so one tends not when struggle because of totally just being one local place. All in this way makes for something super really pleasant. Truly do choose for totally that top enjoyment, honest! Something just really right there, just maybe really great and really honest with what they want something right, truly, when offering to just anything totally super or truly wonderful! All means to truly just offer one just something the honest will and can truly be!
