We visited the site at both dawn and evening to see how the sunlight messed with the mosaics. Word of advice? Really get there around dusk to just notice it with many less people. And even, arguably, just watch that day fade across those aged stones? Wonderful. Bring an appropriate wide-angled lens to give due reverence to the area while photographing.

Bukhara provides a greatly different feel when pitted against Samarkand, albeit only a couple hours on a fast train ride apart.
