Tenerife Adventure Combo: Is This Tour Worth It?
So, you’re thinking of booking that Tenerife Water Jet Ski, Teide Volcano, and Quad Safari Combo, right? It’s quite a bit to take in, isn’t it? Is it actually possible to cram that much adventure into one trip and, if that’s the case, should you really do it? I mean, you really want the lowdown from someone who’s actually been there and experienced the whole thing. That is what I’m gonna give you, an honest review, with some stuff I wish I knew ahead of time, too, so that you can figure out if this combo is actually up your alley.
What’s Included in This Big Adventure?
Okay, so the combo tour basically throws a load of Tenerife’s top thrills all into one, really quite packed, day. Usually, you kick things off early. A bus collects you, right from your hotel, actually, then you’re off to the coast for the jet ski part. You get to blast through the Atlantic waves for what might be an hour, give or take, it depends on the particular package you go for. That is more or less, just a teaser for the big adventure ahead.
After you’re done getting sprayed by seawater, there’s then a quick turnaround. Then, that is off you go, heading straight up, up into Teide National Park. And this isn’t just a drive, oh no, that would be far too simple. Instead, you get behind the wheel of a quad bike, which is actually quite fun! Following a guide, very much like a little convoy, you tackle some, reasonably tough, terrain, all whilst gawking at those unreal, totally unique volcanic landscapes. Very cool. Honestly, at the end of the quad biking, it’s back down to Earth for a late lunch (often included, but, very, just check beforehand) before heading back to your accommodation, actually knackered and probably needing a good, strong drink.
Jet Skiing: Speed and Sea Spray
The jet skiing bit is, like, where you either scream with joy or silently hope you don’t fall off. If you’re already an adrenaline junkie, chances are that you’re gonna enjoy bombing around on the waves. If you are rather new to this sort of thing, like I was, then, well, it is, kind of, exhilarating but potentially quite terrifying too. But don’t sweat, right. You get a quick safety run-through, so, that means how to actually control the thing, basic rules of the sea – that sort of thing – and then you’re paired up with a jet ski, so that you are either going solo, or sharing the fun with your travel buddy.
Very much speeding along the coastline is just amazing. You get to see Tenerife from an absolutely new angle, really feeling that salty spray on your face and that sun beating down. It can get bumpy, and it could be, rather tough on your arms, especially if you really send it, that is if you hold on super tight, too, so be sure to pace yourself a bit. That bit’s a real blast if you can manage to relax, though. That said, actually check what jet skis are used, some are modern and comfy and some really aren’t so maybe, possibly even google the make and model so you actually know.
Quad Biking Around Mount Teide
After you have changed, actually, is when things get properly interesting. I mean, seriously. Teide National Park is almost like a completely different world. Picture that landscape from another planet – like, craggy rocks, that weird volcanic terrain, everything that looks scorched and surreal – yeah, so, and it is even more intense when you’re tearing around it all on a quad bike. They tend to split you into small groups, actually lead by a guide, who’ll take you along selected routes. Those are some fairly challenging trails, very often, they involve a lot of dust, a lot of loose gravel, and possibly even some steep climbs. Be ready for that bit, is what I’d say.
For me, I have to admit it was that mix of heart-thumping adventure and being completely surrounded by pure, untamed natural wonder that stands out. You do need to concentrate, of course. In many ways this terrain is rather unforgiving, too, you also just cannot beat the views, so try to remember to take some glances at what is around you every so often. The air’s thinner up there, that is quite noticeable, too, so, yeah, go easy on the gas pedal to allow for a bit more of it! It could be really chilly at altitude as well. So even when its, sort of, sunny in Tenerife its almost always best to take an extra layer and, maybe, some gloves if its particularly early in the morning when you do the activity. It is well worth taking this seriously to enjoy it properly.
Things to Consider Before you Book
This combo sounds like something straight out of a travel brochure, is that it is. I have to tell you, it may be rather more physically taxing than you first assume. Jet skiing uses pretty much all of your muscles for balance, and quad biking needs a bit of strength and concentration, really. And because the tours are that long, so you really do need to be fairly fit or just mentally prepped for that level of exertion. That could be a slog if you aren’t really.
Also, timing is pretty critical. Check how much travel time between the water and mountain activities there is, for example. The day runs better if the tour operators have made sure all transitions are nice and swift, so do read reviews looking out for any feedback in that department, too, so that you can be as prepped as you can. What you are paying for is important, too. So lunch provided, or needing to find and pay for your own; how about gear (helmet etc.), and just what extras are worth shelling out on too. Also, check for things like: cancellation policies due to weather or some unforseen circs as, in all probability, the high mountains or open sea might have a habit of interfering!
Is It Really Worth the Money?
Honestly, the big question, right. You get the experience of both sea and mountain adventures all packed into one. So, you get decent bang for your buck in that way. Yet, that might be a little full on, I will also say that. So you have to check whether that is worth it in that regard! If you are a person that likes everything fast paced and rammed to the rafters this might really be up your street but do be sure to check yourself against this tendency too.
Assuming it fits in with your energy levels it can, sort of, pay off to have one long day over spreading individual trips, or adventures, out. It may allow a day of relaxing or exploring another aspect of Tenerife that may float your boat! But this kind of multi-activity is going to offer a good chance of trying many different experiences while you’re on vacation. Just do research to get a tour which has brilliant guides, good equipment, and also really great customer feedback and you’ll find you have had a great experience which you’d happily do all over again!
