Telica Volcano Twilight Excursion Review: A Leon Adventure
Okay, so you’re thinking of heading to Telica Volcano for that twilight trip from Leon? Really, you’ve probably seen those photos, is that right? Glowing lava against a darkening sky? Pretty awesome, right? Well, honestly, it’s an adventure. However, like your trips into unknown territories are not always perfect Instagram fodder, so here’s the honest breakdown of what to expect.
What To Expect From the Get-Go
Actually, the Telica at Twilight 6 Hour Volcano Excursion from Leon starts quite later in the afternoon, not like, the crack of dawn or anything. Apparently, most tours tend to pick you up from your lodging, perhaps somewhere around 2 PM, give or take, it depends. Right then, it’s all pile into a van, sometimes it can be a bit crowded, that part might be so uncomfortable for certain people, you know? I want to also let you know that The drive itself? Kind of bumpy. I mean, just the sort that has you bouncing in your seat, maybe a bit dusty. So, prepare yourself mentally. In fact, it’s very important that The road isn’t paved all the way, and so it does take, maybe around a couple hours, like, depending on the road conditions, that stuff changes all the time.
Gear Up, It’s Getting Real
Alright, when you actually get to, say, the base of the volcano, really you’re meeting the guide, the tour operator that usually handles the gear distribution part of it. Really you’re looking at helmets (essential, for possible rock falls!), is that right? Headlamps are very essential, right, like as dusk approaches that part can be quite useful. Oh, in most cases you can probably be getting like a walking stick, I’m saying probably but is really essential, that really can make, could make your life, or I guess your trek just that little easier. Remember good, strong, like your walking shoes, just to make sure you bring them!. Actually, they’re not kidding about needing hiking boots. So, I mean, is that part obvious? I’d recommend layers, too, I would not neglect that recommendation either. So, it can get quite windy and chilly near the crater rim, especially right after the sun sinks.
The Hike: Uphill Isn’t Always Easy
The hike upwards takes, let’s say somewhere around one and a half to two hours, I mean roughly, and like your grandma’s casual stroll in the park this isn’t it, or what?. Honestly it isn’t technically hard but more of an intermediate-difficulty kind of trek, very steep and there is sometimes some loose gravel or maybe just dust tracks here or there that would cause one or two missteps, I wouldn’t underestimate the conditions for walking in those circumstances, you need to know that is what I’m saying. As a matter of fact you will certainly get, in other words definitely get a workout! Basically you are doing it!. Even if you’re reasonably fit, just take breaks to breathe it all in (both physically and visually, that is.).
Volcano Views: Beyond the Crater Rim
You see that view when you are reaching the top?. Good god that’s insane. So, if the sky is like clear you could be checking the full panoramic situation and appreciating, the appreciating would be including some chain volcanoes near the area so you could feel very, very cultured during those fleeting and cherished moments!. Just that stretch is probably your ultimate backdrop in this Nicaraguan environment with, actually I just don’t want to get emotional with the way those peaks break that skyline. I mean they’re magnificent, I think this is because this is, like your first stop as you begin your travels through Leon’s wonders.
The Crater: Lava’s Light Show
Eventually here’s comes like the main event – viewing inside Volcano Telica’s steaming crater at twilight happens. You see glowing molten rock which has all the action coming, up to like thousands of feet from, maybe just somewhere inside our Mother Earth!. Really I’m gonna tell you that no photo can accurately, that is what I said really tell you the story of what it looks, what you can picture and sense down in these gurgling-broth chambers! This spectacle also throws up gasses, this can be affecting the, it just does things to some sensitive airways if, or maybe in some conditions. Maybe you have to readjust your positioning a lot or possibly get just that light and constant coughing going just for a hot minute – anyway usually guides there always knows every signal like very well, maybe those subtle shifts in conditions.
Picture Perfect, Hopefully
Of course you would want to, you know of course capture the views as a nice gesture or for collection purposes. Honestly in this area the circumstances may need quite a bit from your equipment but also its photographer! And while anyone sees any action-capturing gadget automatically transforms just suddenly, basically from person that walks the Earth and just suddenly like pro nature-landscape artist? I doubt it, that’s quite difficult, anyway the twilight environment could challenge more casual point and shoots!. Actually the guide just very well should take over taking pictures from, well any of you who actually may needs to get your keepsake moment because really those professional snaps mean you were somewhere cool for awhile and actually enjoyed things too.
Coming Down: Darkness Descends
Honestly once the sun has, like your regular friend it usually bids goodbye and then what now?. A descent, or course I mean that’s not very ominous-esque or metaphoric and spooky!. Be equipped along with lights – not only because the trails kind of like shift into pitch black, that sort of thing actually heightens the, also sort of amplifies the fun but sometimes not quite always though I feel that depends on what things you’re into. Honestly what should bring a better step?. You might know it. So basically, a trusty walking stick helps!
Headlamps Are Your Friends
Seriously speaking?. Yeah, seriously, you will want both those hands that I spoke before now being used just with sticks and no spare hand used instead for doing the whole flash-phone shenanigans (really there is no space just like your extra circus act performance)!. Really this is something which must require one just pay some proper respect or what else could mean doing slips or faceplanting down onto, well let us be civilized so that we are being all poetic about ‘our beloved Mother Earth’!
Post-Hike and Going Back to Leon
I think the, well to put it the simple way is basically when that mountain bit completes we are coming somewhere again? In essence our lodging awaits so then after you do arrive just be grateful towards that fact that there’s this car which drives again, but of course!. Be so well just, if that word fits you!. During just that drive and you, like perhaps someone near you feels kind of asleep (but please check those bodies that are just moving and making little sounds!), feel encouraged or rather kind about waking those sleepers around – in every other case perhaps we all could just do that whole ride together. Please. If. Not. Asleep. Together. Now!. At night just after arriving Leon (and hopefully also the place we would all stay in too) comes, something, like well yeah something has fully materialized so this now means yeah congrats: congrats! We actually would manage seeing Volcano Telica inside glowing!. Be grateful, yeah be grateful for those experienced scenes because well not all can say it or rather show any scene pictures about being actually near the molten chamber that our Nature presents us during just one specific twilight scene. That happens rarely somewhere actually!.
To recap here’s something to keep your eye on:
- Definitely make preparations for the bump, for what, actually bumpy ride is waiting right for those first seconds to start at.
- Dress with very, very cozy shoes and the attire and all stuff just also add for safety.
- I need to stress also that headlamps kind off need this, that attention: have spare kind also please.
- Be just all well enough and actually all fit because the walking actually drains one some bit during the hours there with our Mountain Telica that you would traverse with, basically on her.
- I encourage always keeping this ‘respecting views over there’ feeling because hey that has also one proper moral attitude in these kinds that one is going.
