Split to Mostar Tour: Kravice, Blagaj & Počitelj Review
So, you know, like planning a trip from Split to Mostar can be pretty exciting, yet there’s almost too much to sort through. This is especially so if you are looking at hitting all the spots along the way! Počitelj, Blagaj, and Kravice Waterfalls are absolutely stunning, so a tour that packs all that in seems brilliant. I went on one such tour recently, and I really wanted to share what I found, things I enjoyed, and, also too it’s almost where things could, like, be improved.
Why Choose a Guided Tour from Split to Mostar?
Basically, taking a guided tour instead of trying to do it yourself has advantages. Driving in a foreign country, such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, it turns out can be a bit much! Different traffic laws, plus road conditions and, I mean, honestly border crossings can be tricky. Add to this, just the convenience of, you know, someone else dealing with all the arrangements—it just looks attractive! A well put together tour is that worry free way to really make the most of your day without you having to worry about pretty much anything, especially the annoying bits of travel. Plus, local guides, arguably, provide info and insights you just simply don’t get traveling solo. So I wanted a hassle free experience and wanted, you know, to also learn things along the way!
First Stop: The Enchanting Počitelj
Počitelj, which is usually the first stop, right, is absolutely like stepping back in time. This fortified village almost sits on a hillside, that is overlooking the Neretva River, and you can see it is brimming with Ottoman-era architecture. So I spent around an hour, you see, wandering the little stone streets. It was really magical, yet honestly very warm so early! I was able to go up to the Kula, which is almost a fortress, too it’s almost to enjoy views of the countryside. You also have a chance to try local treats from, actually, street vendors, which, you know, it almost makes the visit even nicer. It might be nice to have a little longer there to just explore all the hidden corners; that is almost so atmospheric!
Kravice Waterfalls: A Natural Oasis
Arguably the highlight for loads of folks, the Kravice Waterfalls really are an oasis. To be honest, I found myself super excited about this one! It has many cascades tumbling into, like, this emerald green pool. So, anyway, there’s an area where it is OK to swim, making this a perfect spot to cool off. Anyway, just to be honest, the water was quite chilly when I went, yet honestly refreshing after being outside in the sun. You can like chill by the waterfalls, right, and you can find a place at one of the little cafes near the falls. I will suggest to plan for enough time here! It is almost so easy to want to hang around this spot. So you will want maybe like two hours, actually to enjoy this spot and it gives you plenty of time. It turns out time there goes quickly. To be honest, if you visit in peak season it could be quite packed.
Blagaj Tekke: A Spiritual Retreat
After Kravice, we stopped, I mean, we then headed to Blagaj Tekke. It is that stunning monastery located, you know, right by the source of the Buna River. This spot really has that serene feeling; It’s basically almost perfect for reflection. I actually appreciated hearing about the history and culture, told from our guide as that provided much better appreciation for the spot. It turned out just wandering around the Tekke’s grounds, actually, you get a sense of how very historic and serene this area must be. A thing you should remember is you can get some incredible pictures of the Tekke. Also to enjoy this great meal down by the water. Just note: be cautious about restaurant recommendations. It almost feels like some may be very tourism-focused.
Mostar: A City of Two Cultures
Mostar, anyway, being a really center point, and to be honest the furthest point on this day tour, that is really where east comes to meet west. To be honest, the Stari Most (Old Bridge) does stand so gracefully, right, and basically it acts as like a memory from the war! It basically connects the city’s two sides. Watching folks jump from it turns out is entertaining if, you know, somewhat scary. The streets are filled with vendors, really, offering you a glimpse of local crafts as you wander around the Old Town. So, it almost seemed to me to be not long enough! So with only two hours given to see this lovely town you actually only see bits of the city. Having maybe an extra hour could of, you know, given a more relaxed feeling allowing for more to soak things in and to go into many places without the need to rush.
What I Liked About the Tour

- Knowledgeable Guides: Arguably, the insights from the guides, really, made the tour quite enriching.
- Well-Paced: Basically, even with many places to visit, I felt like the tour did a good job of scheduling time in a very location appropriately, I mean, mostly.
Things That Could Be Better
- Time in Mostar: This city deserves to be explored at length; I really think the tour should spend some time with that!
- Restaurant Recommendations: Having that chance of having more objective suggestions can be something to give people better dining experiences.
- Crowd Management: When in peak season it does tend to feel quite packed. It probably would have helped to have an itinerary or possibly to suggest how it avoids popular times during very locations.
Is the Split to Mostar Tour Worth It?
So, if you’re planning a day trip from Split, actually, a tour that covers Mostar, Kravice, Blagaj, and Počitelj can be a lot easier. The things, you know, that you trade off by having all of this is really quite advantageous; I really did find it took the worry out of traveling between the spots! It actually makes certain you get, actually, all the spots that you would love to see! If I would advise it would to look at what they give you for seeing these destinations, but I would also really recommend checking some things out independently. I found it’s still possible to experience this region, as long as this part of that tour is to really work out everything yourself!
Tips for Making the Most of Your Tour
- Wear Comfortable Shoes: Basically you are on your feet all day walking, actually!
- Bring Swimwear and a Towel: It probably would be useful to cool off in Kravice Waterfalls!
