Sharm El Sheikh Shore Diving Review: Two Amazing Dives
Right, so you’re thinking about seeing the underwater spots off Sharm El Sheikh, eh? You know, instead of going on a boat trip, you want to just, in a way, wander into the Red Sea from the beach, right? Maybe you should come with me, I will tell you about my recent experience doing just that, doing two guided dives right from the coast. Hopefully this gives you a clearer view of whether or not this underwater experience is spot on for you, and what to look forward to if you end up trying it!
What to Expect From a Shore Diving Day in Sharm
OK, so first things first, the day usually kicks off fairly early, right around 8 in the morning, roughly, maybe? I was picked up from my hotel, you see, that’s generally included, which, naturally, made it that much easier. Anyway, what happened was that, we went over to the dive center, and it’s there where you get to meet your guide and the other folks you’d actually be experiencing this experience with. The guides usually explain all about where you will go. They talk you through what you can hope to encounter underwater, right, along with safety procedures. The whole vibe is super chill, in case you were wondering. It’s set up to get you jazzed for what’s to come.
Of course, that the dive center will sort out your gear – so they give you your wetsuit, BCD, regulator, fins, and mask – right? Anyway, you might check that everything fits properly, that is if you value your level of ease for the length of the experience, too it’s almost obvious. If, potentially, anything is causing trouble, just flag it then and there. The staff are, well, like your mates, they fix everything ASAP. From the dive center, it is that you will go to the beach from where you will, you know, actually, walk into the Red Sea, typically in a jeep or a small bus. These trips, they really get you close to some outstanding spots!
The Underwater Spectacle: Two Dives, Two Paradises
Speaking of diving in Sharm, the dives are generally spread out through the morning, anyway this means you will do one and take a break on land to recharge. Usually after the second dive is done, you are ferried back to the dive center to sort out equipment, take showers and so on. Usually a sandwich is included to avoid going hungry. Most will get back to their hotel between 13:00 and 14:00, basically this leaves you loads of time to go do other activities.
OK, so let me walk you through what it is really like when you are underwater, right? First off, you walk right into the water from the coast. No need to jump off a boat. How awesome is that? With every meter, life begins to show its face. Small colorful fish, maybe even some moray eels poking out, the usual. It isn’t long at all before the group actually reaches the drop-off. Suddenly, the seafloor disappears beneath you to the abyss. With such close proximity, the opportunity to be a part of it presents itself. I found the reef walls captivating, so much sea life buzzing by at every turn! What a playground. After the reef wall exploration, you then navigate to other nearby reef formations, this gives you even more chances to find special things going on in this part of the Red Sea. As a matter of fact, the current was very gentle, at least in that case. So the entire time it was really cruisy, in a way. Very beginner friendly!
I felt that the second dive was roughly the same kind of set up. Getting in from the shore, very slowly approaching the drop-off, then cruising. Something different about the second dive, and in a way very amazing too, it is that there was a small wreck. That’s where I came eye to eye with all sorts of amazing fish. Very exciting, that was. From start to finish, the team were spot on with providing instruction and tips, very impressive. Honestly, even with all my diving experience, I found the sites rewarding. If that is any reflection of how good shore diving in Sharm can be.
Visibility, Marine Life, and What You Might See
Anyway, one of the coolest things about seeing spots off Sharm El Sheikh is how crystal clear the water tends to be, nearly all the time, seemingly, I mean? Like, you could potentially see for miles and miles. That’s why that makes spotting everything, right from teeny clownfish hiding in anemones, all the way up to big fellas like barracudas just cruising by, you know, extremely easy. Usually the reefs themselves are super bright, right? Colors kind of jump out at you, too it’s almost unbelievable! The combo of sun and clear water, yeah, really fires it all up. Keep your eyes peeled. Maybe you could see some turtles or rays, possibly even reef sharks. That’s very possible too, if that tickles your pickle!
From my point of view, there’s nothing quite like coming eye to eye with reef sharks, basically! Although not guaranteed to be spotted, it is still a thing that can possibly happen on any day. I feel it gives that little added level of curiosity, that one’s experience could all of a sudden have something so incredible going on. In that respect, make sure that if you’re taking photos or videos, to pay attention! I heard about folks seeing dolphins not too far off coast, right from the shore, too. Who knows? So make sure you don’t dismiss what lies between the dive spots! The sea is really that alive!

Basically, I think if you love to go snorkeling, too it’s almost beyond doubt that scuba is a great next step, just as long as you’re game for getting, you know, deeper underwater. With a guide by your side, anyway this means you don’t need to bother too much. They are spot on in that location. I have been scuba spots all over our planet, that, as a matter of fact, made it really stand out to me!
I mean, if you are all about trying out underwater exploring without, in a way, messing about on boats, right, this trip might just really float your boat. If you’re alright with wandering into the water, right off the shore, you can find some truly superb things happening just a short distance away! Even if you are on a tight time budget, yeah, this trip works very well because it runs for about half a day! Not bad at all, is that? You may feel tempted by other dive operations which provide scuba trips to locations further off the coastline. In those cases, maybe it will mean waking up even earlier, traveling further out. All depends how you want to make use of your time and budget! I believe it comes down to personal tastes at the end of the day, that is that.
