Alright, once the AR tour starts proper, that, really, is where the charm kinda kicks in. Through your headset, that is, you see the Imperial Fora, but not like it stands today. Actually, instead, it’s a vision of what it used to look like, and the way the experience is reconstructed to provide maximum effect. Buildings rise from the rubble, statues materialize from the ground, and you are, in that case, walking right amid crowds of ancient Romans, very cool, so. Then you get a digital rendering of Trajan’s Market to another cool reconstructed look at the, umm, Temple of Mars Ultor in the Forum of Augustus. This experience offered cool details, certainly. Each place, literally, bristles with tons of little informational nuggets that just give insight. You can see, alright, how political events played out, how these sites would’ve influenced old time Roman daily life, and kinda get how the emperors of old would’ve wanted to be seen. You almost feel as though they’re just within reach.

One, I mean, highlight for me was experiencing the Curia Julia come back into its complete existence. Standing in the shell that’s left standing today, basically, then viewing its rebuilt majesty through the AR, seriously, creates this powerful sense of place that really helps your, kind of, brain to kinda comprehend the immensity of Roman achievement. As a matter of fact, the voice-overs that are included kinda add this other coating of explanation, narrating events, so. Obviously makes things a bit, right, clearer! Cool, or even super cool, is that it gets so personal.

The Guide Factor: Making History Human

So, truth? I think I tend to undervalue tour guides a bit, still. But very, actually, this one was totally awesome. That is, an extremely big component of what, arguably, turned out to be this tour’s ultimate value and general pleasant experience. Rather than just sounding like a history book on repeat, that, to be honest, got some heart from our guides’ enthusiasm, even just some plain old storytelling capabilities. They kinda linked up events that played out thousands of years back to us now in these totally relatable ways, you know, to make everything click on the personal level. And on top of all that, you know, or sort of, they could really deal with the tech! Which does seem to be a very, very handy bonus! Basically, at the end of the day!

Arguably, any tour can, you know, hand over some facts. But an, or almost, experienced, passionate guide will, still, make that place breathe. These guides had clearly given their devotion, it is likely, to that Imperial history, in some respects. As a matter of fact, you might say the feeling becomes borderline infectious, kind of! I can’t stress quite, just how crucial, you, you know, that added layer to the whole thing was, as I was saying. Oh yeah, very, really amazing! The facts that is, too it’s almost, really clear to digest, anyway!

What Could Be Even Better?

Alright, I felt it was really, really spectacular, right? Yet like pretty much anything, that is, a handful of things that, still, have space for fine tuning and potential improvement too it’s almost, you, maybe need. So like, it would, might be, extremely beneficial for tour outfits if there were ever interactive AR options for these visitors. Instead of basically passive observation only all the time, for example, basically, being able to, at least, kinda trigger historical reenactments or almost simulate things could maybe ramp things up somewhat further still? In a way that might, right, involve, or something! Right! Cool!

So, next, seemingly, some could possibly see it getting a little bit pricey overall, maybe, you might wanna see? If you’re someone travelling using some extremely restricted finances. Now obviously you kinda get the cutting edge AR technology does need a price tag on it somewhat at least but just in case then a, you know, tour with a tiny small less cost option and that misses the tech might maybe attract some other visitor bases out there now. I guess that could be something that gets people truly hooked from start? In some respects but still worth considering maybe. Literally though in fact.

Then there could be a consideration of things. The time limit’s an additional potential drawback; about an hour flies. Maybe adding a prolonged longer journey option perhaps gets folks further chances in this completely magnificent environment when at least people maybe feel particularly pulled into everything here already for me now too perhaps really honestly anyway?
