Rhodes Sailing Yacht Cruise: A Detailed Review

So, you’re thinking about doing a sailing tour when visiting Rhodes? Well, doing a boat trip can actually be a great way to experience the breathtaking coasts that this Greek island has to offer, and Rhodes has, like, some pretty interesting history to check out, too. I recently took the “Rhodes Sailing Yacht Cruise with Food Drinks Smallgroup” tour, and I want to tell you what I think about the trip.

What Makes This Sailing Trip Stand Out?

Greek Islands Sailing

What exactly sets this specific sailing outing apart from other watery adventures, that’s a pretty fair question to consider, of course. Well, for starters, the “small group” part of the name truly means something. A lot of sailing adventures cram a bunch of people on board, making things, well, feel a bit crowded and less individual. This tour keeps it pretty intimate. Then there’s also, obviously, the included food and drinks; always a big plus when you’re planning on being out on the water for a solid amount of time, like your basic day. Let’s examine these special things and a couple more.

Intimate Small Group Experience

Small Group Sailing

Honestly, the small group really made the whole thing worthwhile. It looks as though there were only, say, about ten of us onboard, so it never really felt packed. That is because, very often, with larger groups, you are almost always fighting for space to get a decent view, or waiting what seems like forever to talk to the crew. But on this boat tour it was always very chill. You could always stretch out on deck, soak up some sun, and actually get to know your fellow travelers; a group of people, some pretty interesting, from all over the world.

Food and Drinks Included

Food on Sailing Trip

When it comes to day-long outings, I think it is always awesome when food and drinks are included, yet it feels rare! No need to stress about packing a lunch or buying overpriced beverages on board; though you still can. The outing I took included a nice Mediterranean lunch with some yummy Greek salad, grilled meats, and bread. Beer, water, and soft drinks were very free-flowing the whole time. All pretty basic stuff, really, but very appreciated considering the summer heat and being out in the salty sea breeze all day.

Scenic Spots and Swimming

Swimming in Rhodes

The tour itinerary looked to have been nicely planned, featuring multiple stops at some, what look to be, really awesome bays and beaches along the Rhodes shoreline. The captain picked some truly picturesque spots, and you may even have a chance to go for a dip in the clear waters. Swimming in the Aegean Sea is almost an experience you just can’t miss when visiting Greece, so it definitely turned out to be a highlight of this tour. Just imagine diving into super clear, turquoise water from a sailing boat, with like, dramatic cliffs and beaches surrounding you.

What to Expect on the Day of the Cruise

Rhodes Port

Ok, here is like a walk through as to how your outing might be planned out from morning til end. Expect a full day of fun on the water if you’re thinking of giving it a go. You’ll generally start in the morning and come back in the late afternoon, that is if the waters are calm. Below is a little of what you may expect so that you will be very prepared:

Morning: Getting Started

Sailing Preparation

Typically, you’ll need to be at Mandraki harbor in Rhodes Town, it might be worth it to know that in advance. The meeting spot is normally super easy to find, but you might actually consider getting there like, fifteen minutes early to make sure. You’ll check in, meet the crew, and then maybe hop aboard. After everyone’s on board, the yacht will then, likely, set sail. I did not think to bring seasickness pills that day, but it might not be a terrible idea to come prepared.

Midday: Exploring the Coastline

Rhodes Coastline

You are likely going to spend a few hours just chilling out, enjoying the fantastic views as the boat navigates its way along the Rhodes coast. The boat will visit several spots for swimming and snorkeling. Lunch may also be served sometime around noon, depending on how rough the water is, so plan accordingly.

Afternoon: More Swimming and Relaxation

Aegean Sea Swimming

The afternoon may, like, follow a similar format. A few more swim stops and maybe some free time to really relax on board. The crew might offer you some more drinks and snacks during this period, so be sure to hydrate! By late afternoon, the yacht will head back toward Mandraki harbor.

Highlights of the Tour

Highlights of Sailing

Alright, here’s a quick look at some awesome highlights and parts that might very much be worthy of a mention. The sailing yacht tour could very much be more than just another outing; its likely going to turn out to be an awesome experience with quite a few cool high points. Have a look-see below and you may get a feeling about it.

The Crew’s Expertise and Service

Experienced Sailing Crew

You can typically tell if you are dealing with people that are pretty good at their job. From the very start, it was evident the crew looked to be very skilled and happy to assist in any way, this part goes far beyond only just sailing the boat. They created a really great and super fun vibe and clearly went out of their way to be sure everyone on board was very happy, cared for and comfy. I could also tell they also were quite informed about the area and were happy to share some of its historical past and point out some stuff that you almost can’t even notice.

The Stunning Scenery

Rhodes Landscapes

I mean it’s almost impossible to do a review of this tour without mentioning what, in a way, I think are amazing and almost perfect views. Rhodes has, like, a coastline that could very much be on postcards. I got to experience dramatic cliffs, hidden coves, and some seriously awesome clear waters; all from the cozy comfort of the sailboat. You are also going to catch sight of landscapes that just are hard to get to from the shoreline; It might be nice to think about planning ahead by having your cameras and whatnot fully charged the night prior. You may be getting amazing sights of this, like your Greek vacay.

The Sense of Freedom

Sailing Freedom

There is really just a cool sense of peace when sailing on the sea. The wind blowing through your hair, the sound of the waves, and the sheer wideness of the ocean; I was totally feeling unburdened and totally at one with my surroundings. This sailing trip just really gave me, like, a much-needed respite from all of the craziness of city life, yet just for that little bit, it might really mean everything, maybe. It’s quite possibly a day to just unplug and feel very much refreshed.
