Review: Tucepi Snorkeling Boat Tour – Hvar, Brac & Riviera
If you are after something exciting, the Tucepi Snorkeling Boat Tour might be something to consider if you are close to Hvar, Brac, or the Riviera. So, I want to offer you my opinion on this day trip to help you decide if it’s for you. This account hopes to share all there is with an open and honest attitude so you know exactly what you’re signing up for.
Setting Sail from Tucepi
So, first things first, Tucepi! A fantastic starting point. Very likely, Tucepi gives off this wonderful vibe. It is almost peaceful when compared to some of the bigger touristy towns that you find. Waking up very early and heading to the harbor had a certain charm to it. The boats are just gently bobbing around. You know, the anticipation of the day ahead just hangs in the air.
Very, very shortly after boarding, the coastline becomes a memory, a beautiful view as you head off into the Adriatic. Actually, the view all on its own is certainly worth the trip! The sun on your face is such a great feeling as the boat picks up speed, and you just leave everything else behind.
Hvar: A Whirlwind Visit
Hvar, known for what could be described as its rather upscale reputation, so offers a quick stop. Yet, very quickly after docking, it’s hard to not see why Hvar has that label. The harbor is completely overflowing with fancy yachts, and that town square is actually buzzing with activity. During our time, you see there really wasn’t quite enough time to absorb it all. This quick visit, for me, almost seemed more like a preview than, like your truly immersive visit.
You get a sense, it’s almost that this spot is where all the beautiful people get together. It tends to be full of beautiful buildings and you do have an abundance of photo opportunities, for sure. Arguably, should you wish to come back and explore Hvar properly, then you’re going to be spending quite a lot, compared to what you would in other Croatian towns, which is useful information.
Brač: Island Time and Hidden Bays
Brač felt totally different, quite a contrast to Hvar. When it comes to snorkeling, the tour really shines, you see. We ended up anchoring in these beautiful, secluded bays, in some respects the clear blue water just called out to be explored! The equipment, it seems, was pretty well looked after and fit for purpose and all that. The crew tended to be really helpful with giving tips for beginners. I have to be honest, for somebody who wasn’t very confident in the water, it helped put me at ease. Now, like your average swimming pool this wasn’t, and with each stroke you took in the ocean it seemed the fish darted about. In that case you are after beautiful things to look at then trust me when I say there is more than you expect.
After some time in the sea there was a tasty lunch back on board. In some respects, having that meal, completely surrounded by the Adriatic, made you appreciate life! As a matter of fact, everyone was cheerful as we were able to swap stories, experiences, and all sorts of stuff.
Riviera Views and Coastal Cruising
As we were approaching the Riviera, so the scenery was very impressive. The landscape here could be described as rugged cliffs, as well as pine forests and this tended to just go on for miles and miles. In the meantime, while going on the boat there seemed to be some hidden beaches as well as little villages. While it looked beautiful it almost feels like you could only get to some of these places by boat, so be mindful of this.
Cruising just off the shore had a charm all of its own as the sun seemed to drop towards the horizon. You see, reflecting on this is a little tricky but that sunset over the Adriatic did create a tranquil environment, it felt very satisfying.
The Crew and Onboard Atmosphere
What stood out for me, was that this boat tour crew really managed the environment onboard the boat. They looked after the passengers and almost managed them well, for example being extremely clear, but also very attentive and keen to get people involved. Honestly, the vibe seemed extremely chilled and friendly, as a matter of fact this made the whole trip even more pleasant.
The crew tended to give insights with all the local knowledge as well as stories about some of the islands, therefore you almost had the tour guides from a boat point of view, which felt a bit different. As I was saying, I picked up a whole lot more than your run-of-the-mill trip, it really put your average vacation to shame.
Snorkeling Conditions and Marine Life
The Adriatic, let’s just say, is usually very, very clear which tends to make for excellent snorkeling conditions, this goes without saying. However, the variety of marine life on the day maybe was less than somewhere like the coral reefs of the Pacific. Anyway, there were still an abundance of fish which were there, the sea urchins and starfish as well. It is worth noting, should you have smaller children, that you watch them when snorkeling.
Just so you know, if you’ve got your own equipment for underwater photographs you can bring them! The photos can seem to be more unique from any old holiday snaps! It tended to mean you can get nice and close with all kinds of aquatic creatures. Anyway, just bear that in mind should you decide to take that equipment!
Is this Snorkeling Boat Tour right for you?
So, I suppose if you love boat trips and a little bit of swimming and taking photos, then the Tucepi Snorkeling Boat Tour tends to tick many boxes. It goes without saying, this works if you have this excitement for exploring all of Croatia’s coastline too! This boat tour is a very cool option if you have family from the youngest right up to older members. As I was saying, some of the boat trips don’t tend to take people of all ages so remember to plan accordingly.
It’s almost that should you feel like spending long periods sunbathing, for example on one specific beach, then you may want to find a trip which works better for you. As I was saying, this boat tour might not be the perfect thing for everyone. Ultimately, I have very fond memories!
