Review: The Heart of Lisbon – Baixa, Chiado & Barrio Alto

Lisbon, right, it’s just a city that kind of gets into your soul. It’s almost like every corner has a story, every street is brimming with life, and, as a matter of fact, the people, well, they just add that extra bit of something special. If you’re planning a trip, very make certain that you really spend some time getting lost in the center of Lisbon; Baixa, Chiado, and Barrio Alto. So, very you get that real sense of the city.

Baixa: Lisbon’s Elegant Core

From traditional Portuguese stuff all the way through to pretty standard international brands, and naturally there is also somewhere to just get that bit to eat. As I was saying, too it’s like that perfect place to just stroll, just kind of take in all the city vibes.

Food-wise, the area around Rossio Square really can’t be beat. Like your after all, there is some seriously lovely traditional restaurants and cafés. Like really you should sample a Pastel de Bacalhau (codfish cake) and maybe even sip on a Ginjinha, too it’s actually like that little cherry liqueur that they serve in some chocolate cups. Actually, to do it is almost the cultural norm!

Things To Do in Baixa

• Visit Praça do Comércio: Right, it’s more or less just like that place to start exploring. It’s seriously historical and offers brilliant views.
• Climb the Arco da Rua Augusta: Too it’s like you want that kind of killer panoramic view. Honestly, don’t skip this.
• Shop on Rua Augusta: You might enjoy a stroll, window shopping, people watching…seriously, so relaxing, and maybe find that memento!
• Eat at Rossio Square: A place to grab a traditional snack, just so you try that local flavors!

Chiado: Culture and Elegance in Lisbon

Chiado, is that just north of Baixa, it’s very that district you might think about like that center of culture and like just elegant shopping. You get that sense, so to speak, of what Lisbon represents. It too it’s all about that mix of old bookshops and trendy boutiques; basically, very classic Lisbon.

Too it’s like that really essential place, you know, is that Livraria Bertrand, one of the oldest bookshops in operation very on Earth! You see just what it’s like to actually step into history, it’s almost that amazing for all book lovers. If you do actually fancy catching a show, the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos really can’t be missed.

Art, right, too it’s a big thing in Chiado. There’s that Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea (National Museum of Contemporary Art) that provides a look at some fantastic Portuguese artists. And, very as you wander through, there is so many little galleries too that showcase some amazing local talents.

Now, actually, you probably just can’t chat about Chiado without sort of giving a shout-out to A Brasileira café. It is what it is.
