Review: Baku Candy Mountains and Shahdag Tour – Is it Worth It?

So, you’re thinking of seeing those cool Candy Mountains and snowy Shahdag from Baku, huh? Well, getting out of Baku can really make a trip something else entirely. Tours are pretty appealing to quite a few travelers because, honestly, Azerbaijan is one of those countries where just wandering around on your own could actually be pretty tough. Public transport, too it’s almost, works…sort of, and those language issues, well they are very real! Shahdag means another really noticeable change of scenery, just a short drive away. Getting up higher, into the mountains, just meant it did get fresher, a bit, and air that felt so clean, anyway. In fact you know when you are getting closer; as things just go totally green, pretty quickly! We went to Shahdag sort of off-season; I mean it wasn’t snowy, not that you asked. This means there was so much to experience that didn’t only depend on, like, winter activities. Those trails that wind all around the slopes give absolutely awesome hikes; and some chair lifts will show you the whole stunning thing in a way you cannot imagine. In my own view; the vibe in Shahdag seemed very quiet and it’s almost, much calmer; offering tourists a real chill escape after all of that bustle from Baku.

Activities in Shahdag (Beyond Skiing)

It turns out that Shahdag really can give tourists far more than just skiing when it’s just not cold enough, did you know? During all those warmer times, there is, very, very active fun up in those mountains, which will definitely take advantage of everything to do with such stunning spots. I went to that Adventure Park; which is something you should think of; by the way! This actually includes challenges up high for you to test yourself; and some zip lines which fly right across those gorges, arguably. And all around Shahdag you should easily find loads of walkways made for people of all ages or fitness levels! And if it’s just something much less energetic that you’re after, you really should check on a scenic cable car ride. It could be; that all those vistas of that Caucasus Mountains and all those green valleys alone can really make the short trip all worthwhile, so in some respects!

Food and Cultural Experiences

The times spent eating can bring even more substance to these trips – yeah, well, alright that really goes without saying! So, during our travels, lunch just usually meant stopping by small, almost family run restaurants in locations near to those visitor places we wanted to look at; that turned out great. The food in Azerbaijan includes so much fresh bread, barbecued grills, and all sorts of great stews; so you definitely are going to discover plenty that you will like!
