Crete, very often known for its diverse landscapes and interesting history, presents travelers, too, with many tempting spots. Among them, the area around Rethymno stands out. It has got palm-lined beaches, attractive villages, and all sorts of historical spots, offering a bit for everyone. I want to take a look at a few spots, like Preveli Palm Beach, Damnioni Beach, and the Plakias Village. It could give a visitor what to expect and maybe make their next trip a bit more interesting. I want to explore what exactly makes this section of Crete so, well, special.

Preveli Palm Beach: A Tropical Oasis

Preveli Palm Beach, somewhat south of Rethymno, I feel like, is the perfect spot, as it seems to have the combination of a beach setting and a jungle escape. That beach gets its character because the Kourtaliotis River flows right to the sea, creating, maybe, an impressive palm forest by its sides. Very many visitors consider this unique ecology simply picturesque, while you may find it something else, something almost surreal.

You get to reach the beach either by going downhill, I suppose on a very, very steep path (prepare your legs!), or even taking a boat coming from nearby Plakias. Most people will say that that walk allows views that might make the sweat worthwhile. As a matter of fact, when you come closer, very crystal clear water comes along and very towering cliffs which make it feel you got, in a way, to some lost paradise.

That beach, in a way, seems ideal for simply relaxing, that you feel that everything stands still for that particular moment. You might as well explore the river further inland. In that case, think of something, like renting a paddle boat. After that, have a stroll around palm forest, so too its shady areas it offers. Preveli is not only a beach. Rather, it is an interesting place. It gives those travelers that seek nature. It will simply not leave someone, that just passes, that’s it!

Tips for Visiting Preveli Palm Beach

If you will visit this location, I want to give a few things in mind. One might be, alright, get sturdy shoes, in order to take a walk down to the beach. Take enough water. Sometimes sun can sting your bare skin, so too get a shelter. Arrive early. I feel it tends to get crowded, especially during, well, that very period tourists seem to like best. Then you should experience that true natural setting that Crete has very often to offer!

Damnioni Beach: Serenity by the Libyan Sea

Maybe, just maybe, some kilometers to the east side from Preveli, Damnoni Beach offers it self. As many seem to indicate it has, you know, a vibe. A feeling, something much, much more, kind of, calm. Not only very less crowded than Preveli, but I think the beach with the deep blue waters has kind of this peace and is, arguably, a really very, very great location. You will get very stunning cliffs coming together with your landscape around. If you look carefully, you find plenty of spots. Just that relaxing, very laid-back and quite, nearly, like this escape kind of feeling.

A lot seem to visit that place because one gets the change, well, of sunbathing and swimming. They tend to choose something more, something thrilling and something filled with activities. Options might include windsurfing. As well as that diving school I know has gotten quite popular with those visitors! Not only Damnoni beach has those, just, natural characteristics that, let me say, seem great to you and me. This location has kind of the set up so, too, it feels alright to you!

At Damnoni I would, definitely, try snorkeling! I can give you my word it is just a superb experience. One gets the chance to very beautifully view marine life. This place is just a pure jewel! Take a sun bath! I feel very good facilities all around make it simply to use a day completely here and the local tavernas? Right on that, simply perfect, with great food.

Plakias Village: A Charming Coastal Hub

Plakias Village can easily be called the perfect spot for people that seek, as I was saying, more, something beyond pure location alone! Located very conveniently in range with very several great beaches and great landscapes. Here we have it, then again, as promised, that picturesque bit, coming together, mixing well and so it all kind of clicks. It all just clicks right at its heart. What is going on with this lovely and little coastal town?

Well, here goes something. The lovely town itself. It contains very, very, interesting architecture, as it seems, full of some old influences. The town feels warm and friendly, what, very often, that comes handy, makes the experience even simply all round perfect, but it is also what? A really very nice location from one or two great beaches, a few interesting treks and plenty of the culture from Crete. Not only there has been some modernization so too one can visit, stay at Plakias with all modern perks one seems to like but without, in a way, affecting its charm.

Exploring Plakias and Its Surroundings

Think of those who seek a nice calm atmosphere combined with that sense that just “Crete has something more”! Then consider hiking to the very nearby hillsides that, in most cases, I think have those views that stretch over mountains as well over that deep Libyan sea, or simply have a slow evening stroll. I am thinking those beach spots have these little romantic touches! The village, it is just not that, the location it seems so, too, you like!

So, if anyone wants to plan to visit Rethymno region, that person wants those moments they may last so, too, even the slightest thing will bring those travel experiences back, as such? Then plan properly. It is those crystal water-spots around Preveli Palm Beach, Damnoni with its water activities spots as Plakias and all spots coming simply along are only just great gems that this corner contains. Have your eyes and ears simply fully wide!
