The car that picked us up was in pretty good shape, and honestly really clean. It had air conditioning that actually worked – seriously, a lifesaver in Vietnam’s heat! My Son Sanctuary itself, or that complex of abandoned and partially ruined religious buildings, really took our breath away. It’s this historical site that offers an absorbing look back to a period somewhere between the 4th and 14th centuries CE. The ancient Cham civilization once worshiped their gods and carried out rituals in these amazing temples. The construction of each red brick building, that’s on the grounds, makes My Son such a worthwhile spot for historical sightseers!
Flexibility: That’s Really the Key
A massive plus about having that private car was how super flexible it was. We planned our time at My Son based on what we liked. Very much unlike the organized tours, we did not feel rushed, and anyway we lingered at spots that caught our interest, or just chilled with an ice cream when we got hot. When we decided we were ready to go, we contacted our driver. He was waiting to take us to our lodging in Hoi An after about half an hour, seeming.

Okay, yeah, private cars are pricier compared to taking a bus or renting a motorbike.
