Pasito Blanco Sailing Tour: A Review With Food & Drinks

If you’re thinking of adding a bit of sparkle to your trip to Gran Canaria, well, a sailing tour just might be the ticket. A friend and I hopped on the Pasito Blanco Private Sailing Tour recently, and I figured I’d share what we experienced, you know, the good, the great, and the seriously memorable bits. This particular trip promised amazing views, delicious eats, and, most importantly, a relaxed vibe out on the water. So, was it all smooth sailing or did we encounter a few waves? Let’s get into it!

Setting Sail From Pasito Blanco

First off, Pasito Blanco itself is pretty beautiful. The marina is, kind of, a picture postcard come to life with all those yachts bobbing gently and the sun glinting off the water. We found the meeting spot quite without any difficulty, and soon we were welcomed aboard a really nice sailboat. The crew was, it seems, super friendly right from the beginning, introducing themselves and, like, making sure we were comfy. You see, the boat itself was spotlessly clean, with loads of room to stretch out, which is absolutely ideal for a laid-back day on the ocean. The excitement definitely started building as we left the harbor!

The Sailing Experience

The tour typically takes you along the southern coast of Gran Canaria, showing off some of the area’s must see views. Think dramatic cliffs, tucked-away beaches, and, on a very clear day, even a peek at Mount Teide on Tenerife, which is fairly stunning! The sailing itself was really serene. The crew obviously knew what they were doing, managing the boat easily. In fact, we were allowed to just sit back, take in the scenery, and breathe in that salty sea air. One of the trip highlights that really stuck with us was when the captain actually let us take a turn at the helm. Actually, steering a sailboat is definitely more of a challenge than it appears, but, also, an awesome experience!

Food and Drinks Onboard

Alright, let’s chat about the goodies! The tour boasts offering food and drinks, and they actually didn’t hold back. Throughout the trip, there was a steady supply of refreshing drinks, including soda, beer, great local fruit juices, and water. I mean, on a day out in the sun, staying hydrated is, of course, key. The food was actually pretty decent too. We’re talking about platters of local cheeses, cured meats, and some freshly baked bread. A few of those nibbles, combined with the views, it felt incredibly luxurious. Later on, they served a, quite frankly, delicious lunch. From what I recall, it included grilled fish, traditional potatoes, and a seriously tasty salad. They were pretty careful to accommodate for different diets, so everybody felt cared for.

Dolphin and Whale Watching

One of the things that many seem to be interested in on these tours is spotting sea life. Fortunately, we were very fortunate. About midway through our tour, we were joined by a pod of dolphins that started playing around the boat. Seriously, watching them flip and jump through the waves was, maybe, one of the magical parts of the day! The crew obviously were experts on local marine life, providing some very interesting information about the dolphins and their behavior. It’s apparently worth remembering that while sightings are common, they’re not completely assured, because, nature has its own schedule.

Snorkeling and Swimming

The tour we took came complete with an option to stop for a swim and a snorkel in a sheltered bay. The boat carried all the equipment, so it was easy enough for us to simply jump right in. The water was crystal clear, which, obviously, is excellent for spotting fish, plus some other sea critters. Those that didn’t fancy getting wet could chill on board, soak up the sun, and take in the views, so, truly, there really was something for everybody.

The Crew and Service

I would argue that the crew definitely make or break an experience like this, and, honestly, they were genuinely terrific. They seemed to strike a wonderful balance between being attentive and letting you enjoy your own time. It seemed they were always on hand to offer drinks, food, or, simply, answer questions about the area. You could just tell they were proud of what they do and extremely wanted everyone to have a special time. Their love for sailing and the island was actually obvious, and that really improved the experience.

Value for Money

Alright, let’s tackle the thing most are concerned about – is it worth the cost? A private sailing tour actually isn’t the cheapest way to spend your time in Gran Canaria, yet, when you balance it against what you actually get – personalized care, all-inclusive food and drink, remarkable views, and, likely, some unforgettable memories – I would say that it provides solid value. This is something I’d probably recommend particularly for groups or families who might want to spend quality time together without lots of other people around.

What Could Be Better?

Now, no experience is perfect, is it? If I was picking nits, perhaps a tad more info about the route or the sights we were viewing would’ve enhanced the tour. Also, as someone that experiences seasickness a little, the tour being perhaps 30 mins shorter may well have helped a lot, very minor I know!

Final Thoughts

Basically, the Pasito Blanco Private Sailing Tour definitely provides an incredible way to explore Gran Canaria from a completely different angle. From leaving the beautiful marina to, like, watching dolphins play in the waves, there’s plenty to love about this trip. Yes, it’s seemingly a splurge, yet the personalized care and, of course, the memorable moments really make it worthwhile. If you are celebrating a special occasion, or, possibly, just wanting a bit of luxury on your vacation, then this sailing tour is perhaps really something to think about.
