I actually took one of these trips not too long ago, so I figured I’d jot down the highs, the lows, and really just everything in between, right, like your unfiltered thoughts, for anyone else considering making that jaunt. Why Ourika Valley? A Quick Look

Ourika Valley isn’t too far from Marrakech, which, is that perfect for a quick escape into the Atlas Mountains. I think, at least, it’s a spot to peep traditional Berber life and stunning landscapes. It’s definitely very popular for its waterfalls, terraced gardens, and just a chance to breathe in some fresh air, instead, maybe, of the city’s dust, yeah?

Booking My Trip: What to Watch Out For

There are so many companies that give this particular trip, actually. So, what’s vital, really, is reading reviews and comparing what’s included. My tour basically said it featured transportation, a guide, and lunch, but you really just have to peek at the small print. Were drinks at lunch included? That’s a negative, really. How much walking did it involve? These are kinda essential questions, too it’s almost, that some of these things might be overlooked.

The Drive: Expect Twists and Turns

Okay, the drive, while beautiful, it might be something. The roads get narrow and windy as you climb into the mountains, and, that’s a little fun, if you aren’t prone to motion sickness. I think you just take something if you’re a bit sensitive, honestly. The view, so, is something, with villages clinging to the hillsides and the valley spreading out before you.

First Stop: A Berber Family Visit

Lunch, for me, I mean, it was included in the tour, and took place at a restaurant with valley views. The food’s fairly standard Moroccan fare – tagine, couscous, kind of the usual. Is that good, though? In some respects, it’s kind of fine, but not outstanding. You definitely, very pay a little extra for the scenery.

The Guide: Your Key to a Good Trip

Your guide, right, can either make or, you know, break your tour. I think our guide was okay, yet not super engaging. A great guide gives you info about the area, the culture, maybe answers all your questions and really adds something to the experience. If you’re very looking for something specific, ask before booking, alright?

Things I Wish I’d Known

There is something that I actually didn’t do, and I think I definitely would if I went, but yet, this could assist with a lot. You probably already thought about bringing smaller denominations for tips, is that right, because they, just a little, really expect it. The sellers on the route to the waterfalls may push their merchandise a bit, well, strongly. A polite, but is that really firm “no, thank you” works perfectly well.
