Nassau 3 Islands Tour Review: Pigs, Snorkeling & Lunch

So, you know, when vacationing in Nassau, Bahamas, a bunch of tours tend to pop up, right? The “Nassau 3 Islands Tour” really seemed like one that kept showing up, promising a trip to Pig Beach, snorkeling, turtle spotting, plus lunch. It looks like a bucket-list experience for many, and arguably a way to squeeze a bunch of Bahamian highlights into a single day. I went on it, and, like, here’s what I really think.

Nassau 3 Islands Tour Review: Pigs, Snorkeling & Lunch

Setting Sail: What to Anticipate From the Start

The beginning’s almost always pretty important, you know? My tour started quite early – at around 8:00 AM – from a spot near the cruise terminal. You know, it’s super convenient if you’re coming off a cruise. Anyway, you check in, and get introduced to the crew. The boat itself varied in size, seemingly depending on how many folks signed up. Mine had maybe thirty other tourists, giving it this kinda communal, but not overcrowded, feel. It’s also a good thing to listen to the captain and crew talk about safety rules. They are actually pretty important for a day on the water. The general vibe from the crew felt casual, you know, like they do this a million times, but they try and make it, still, engaging, in a way.

Pig Beach: More Than Just a Swim With Swine

Pig Beach, that’s probably what anyone wants to experience the most. Now, picture this: a stretch of soft sand and crystalline water, and, then suddenly, pigs – not just one or two, that is, but a whole family – paddling right to your boat. This, you see, feels quite unreal. These aren’t your average farm animals. These pigs, really, know how to work for a treat, that’s to say, if they get one. The tour provides food, so you’re able to feed them. And yeah, it’s pretty Instagrammable, or TikTokable, or whatever app anyone is using. But honestly, there are certain things one needs to consider. There’s almost a bunch of people around trying to grab a shot, so you got to be prepared for that, you know? Also, you got to, slightly, watch your fingers when those pigs go for the grub! Still, getting near to those animals in such a surreal scenario, right in the sea, too, is an amazing experience that’s worth going through, I think.

Snorkeling: Spotting Colorful Fish and Coral Reefs

After the pig experience, the boat speeds off to a snorkeling spot. The tour operators seemingly select the place depending on conditions that day, but you almost can assume the water is clear with reefs full of different types of fish. This is a very awesome experience. Even though, as I recall, I had snorkeled a couple times previously, I still thought it a treat to swim around in such pristine water. They will provide the gear for you if you don’t have any. It all can fit, kinda awkwardly. If the open water feels scary for any reason, the tour guides can also provide life vests. Very thoughtful of them, in some respects. Remember that there can, sometimes, be a swift current, therefore, keep close to the boat.

Turtle Time: An Unexpected Encounter

The next stop on the tour actually depends. It might be a beach for just a little while, or to a spot where sea turtles hang out. It is almost guaranteed, not that you’ll get super close, but close enough to admire the turtles from the boat. Obviously, there is no touching, no bothering the cute animals. This turtle encounter proved super magical and added another neat component to the day, in fact, it enhanced the value.

Lunch on the Islands: A Taste of the Bahamas

This is, seemingly, included in the tour price. Now, the food isn’t really gourmet-type stuff. This, rather, is a super standard buffet of Bahamian-style food, with rice, coleslaw, grilled fish or chicken, things like that. Drinks often come at a separate price, except water that they will provide. I recall finding the food reasonably alright – enough, that’s to say, to fill me up after being in the ocean for a lot of the day. The vibe during lunch is cool, almost relaxed. It tends to offer a chance for everyone from the boat to just chat and, obviously, talk about what their fave thing was so far.

The Return Trip: Reflecting on the Day

You see, on the cruise back to Nassau, there’s like a collective air of contentment. You often see people looking back through their phones at photos, going through their highlight reel of swimming pigs, or brightly colored fishes. The crew, you know, they put on local music to match, and it turns to being this cool vibe. When one is heading back into port, one should tip the crew for working so diligently all day.

  • Pig Beach is undeniably the most popular stop, delivering on the promise of swimming with the cute creatures.
  • The snorkeling offers a great experience.
  • The lunch is alright, filling you up.
