The masterclass breaks down the whole tattoo thing into easy-to-follow steps. I mean, first things first, they go over safety. Of course. It’s, in a way, pretty important when needles are involved. We did touch on sanitation practices and, yeah, how to prevent infection. Next thing you know, they’re walking you, maybe, through the equipment, teaching you about the different needles, machines, and inks. I can tell you that they went over some theory regarding design principles like balance, line weight, and shading to have a fair start to the day. With all that covered we put pen to fake skin so we were able to build a solid platform for creating that body art, actually. But I was itching to make the take-home artwork for the day so listened up really well!

Hands-On Experience: Making the Tattoo

So, now comes the part you are looking forward to. It involved some fake skin, it is almost like the real thing. First, we picked our designs, rather simple ones I need to stress that. With guidance, we transfer the drawings onto that artificial surface and prepare the tattooing equipment and, honestly, you know, it looked scary at first. Now, we were carefully guided on the best ways of maneuvering the tattooing equipment and adding the ink to the practice surface, apparently we could experiment with different shading and linework to gain a grasp of what is involved, or what not to do!. Under constant advice we slowly developed what could only loosely be referred to as a ‘tattoo’. Still it had a personal hallmark about it, a story and a physical creation representing, like, your expression and individualism!

Taking Home Your Art

What sets this masterclass apart? Well, yeah, it’s that you get to take home your tattoo “art piece”. In a way, it’s a souvenir. But that shows the progress that one has achieved during that session, I should state, a conversation piece that can act as your first step, rather tentatively into the realm of ink and skin. That feeling that you have created art, right there, right then is pretty amazing!
