Mexico: Coyoacan, Xochimilco – Bus, Boat & Brunch Family Review

If you’re thinking of catching a glimpse into the heart of Mexico, with all its vibrant culture and historic places, then visiting Coyoacan and Xochimilco could be, almost, a real treat, basically. Adding a bus trip and a brunch situation makes it even easier to visit both of these colorful places in a single day, kind of. Having this type of tour also allows a full family to be fully submerged in the unique vibes of this district of Mexico. I’m going to walk through some of my trip so you can know the many ways to benefit. So it can almost give you a picture of whether it is good for you or not.

Coyoacan: First Stop – Art, Culture, and Cobblestone Streets

Coyoacan Streets

Coyoacan is more or less this borough in Mexico City that definitely wears its historical heart on its sleeve, in a way. The thing that pulls your eyes in, that, is its collection of old buildings with cobblestone streets, it seems. Taking a trip around these paths brings about some special feels that, very, is similar to wandering around somewhere in Europe instead of a hectic city in Mexico, right? What gave Coyoacan more attention, specifically, are the old colonial structures that, really, offer the unique look of a bygone time, it seems.

What made the tour here fun for our bunch was how calm and collected things were, kind of. A nice stroll around the Frida Kahlo museum, which I may add is blue in color, gave a taste of both Mexican art and a feel for the artistic world. Plus there were vendors offering food at reasonable prices, but that’s usually the case in places with tourists anyway, right?

That there’s a center square helps folks to meet, chat, eat food and get a picture or two in with old buildings lurking in the shot, that, might be the most attractive reason why the place is pretty touristy. And don’t get me going about the beautiful churches either, it’s almost as if that just gives even more soul to this special town that, actually, is now part of the country’s largest city, basically.

Xochimilco: Drifting on Ancient Canals

Xochimilco Canals

If I can switch gears, a short travel away from Coyoacan has this historic place that, very, I think everyone should at least try once, namely Xochimilco. Very famous for its canal systems, so that it brings people back to the times of the Aztecs, and that it still echoes a rich history even as progress grows, well that’s just impressive, you know?

It tends to be usual for tourists here, to rent these boats named “trajineras,” very colorful and they are a sight to catch. On this tour we paid our rent so we can kick our feet up and let our designated guide show all the unique nooks and crannies in Xochimilco. Did you know that you can get people to whip you up some good local foods? That you could too find vendors on canoes sailing through the canal. What a unique kind of market that you can experience on a boat that is usually adorned with beautiful art.

Oh and speaking of a full on traditional experience. The bands on some boats would float up next to you and ask for some pesos for a song, or two. Our family was super lucky that day when we got these musicians blasting beautiful melodies in our boat. But let’s not forget those floating food vendors and artisans offering all sorts of great trinkets for everyone who is looking to purchase one of these items for the collection. When you visit Xochimilco is when that authentic shopping truly blooms and grows, basically!

Brunch: Fueling the Adventure

Mexican Brunch

I can never turn my cheek on food, I love foods too, literally. Usually the bus tour gives brunch for tourists so they can refuel after some exploring, it seems. This meal almost served as more than just food, kind of. So it also represents this merging between old culinary methods with current cuisine, kinda.

One of the reasons the tour we hopped on made people gather up, might be the place itself. It might be at a peaceful spot, in some respects, or it might also be some kind of hidden restaurant. Who can know?, I mean, all I am saying is that most of the time they always get one good spot picked and prepped.

Having authentic fare right in the heart of your Mexico exploration. I want to claim that it boosts the quality that travelers experience, honestly. If your tour gives some choices for food. Don’t turn away from that authentic taco spot. It may be just like your normal tacos, or that it may blast even more flavors in your mouth!

Family Friendliness: Is this tour right for you and your loved ones?

Family Vacation

There are times when folks scratch their heads when it has something to do with children. You know, that not everything is tailored for small humans to fully be enjoying what grown people have in place. But I tell you what. If you would like a trip that gives your kid an education as well as being plain interesting, I’d fully give this bus, boat and brunch trip a 10/10, almost.

First of all is how convenient this style of traveling helps bring convenience in this whole picture, you see. Rather than you fretting all day in some corner trying to think how to use that railway or bus, well you now got someone driving you around, so now you can relax and take pictures, that is. Because time is money when you travel, in some respects.

Then is the kind of sites you get to see are not something that most countries may not give to people to learn. So in my point of view it’s a cool bonus to let little Timmy go look at history as well as have good experiences, kind of. So too if you get to get your hand on unique cuisines, then there is no reason to say no to that type of tour.

In closing, if you’d like something special when on vacation, the ‘Mexico Coyoacan Xochimilco Bus Boat Brunch Family’ tour could make a really sweet choice, you know? You go through colorful old town spots, float through calm canals on old boats and dive headfirst into genuine local food. But I can bet you there may be little setbacks to worry about. Like there may be many folks around, and a full-on language hurdle that you’re jumping around the spot. With every bit of preparation, one will see this choice to be nothing short of awesome!
