Medellin Soccer Match Tour Review: Pre-Game & Tickets Experience
Thinking of taking in a soccer match when you’re in Medellin? It’s very much a great idea! The passion for fútbol in Colombia is, too it’s almost contagious. Rather than just rocking up to the stadium and hoping for the best, getting on a tour can, in a way take a lot of the hassle out of it and really add to the atmosphere, right? Let’s walk through my thoughts after experiencing one of these tours; things I liked, things that perhaps could be improved, and if, maybe it’s a good shout for you.
What’s the Big Deal with a Soccer Tour in Medellin, Basically?
Alright, so you might be asking yourself, is that why would I even bother with a tour when I could grab a ticket myself? Well, consider this; going to a game in a new country can be, arguably a bit tricky, right? A tour typically handles a few key things for you. It often includes getting a ticket, which could be somewhat difficult otherwise, as well as safe transport to and from the stadium. That can be quite important. Some tours also include a pre-match get-together, usually at a bar, with drinks and snacks, as well as other fans. As a matter of fact this can be a fantastic way to get into the spirit and hear a few stories from the locals, basically.
In addition, for instance, some tours, might even offer a translator who explains all the chants and what’s going on during the match. When you’re experiencing such a vivid event, that might really add to the overall feel. Beyond this, and I want to really drive this home, these organized adventures, typically mean you get in and out of the stadium with a group, and that means avoiding any potential risks of being alone, especially if you are a tourist, okay?
My Experience: Kicking Off with the Pre-Game Festivities, Too it’s almost
The tour I selected got going a few hours prior to kickoff at a local sports bar. So, already there was this crazy, loud vibe as fans decked out in their team colors chattered away, excited for the match. I’ll admit I was a bit unsure initially but it, I mean, it didn’t take long to feel welcomed. That is because the tour organizers very were friendly and introduced me to some of the other people on the tour, including quite a few local supporters. The beer started flowing and appetizers arrived, and soon enough, everyone was belting out team anthems, in some respects.
One nice element the tour supplied, I thought, was the lowdown on the team we would see. This, honestly included some quick background on key players, as well as that historic wins and losses. I felt this, surely provided way more insight when compared to just rocking up without insight, actually. Then, with everyone sufficiently pumped up, it became time to head to the stadium, clearly. Now, that might feel intimidating on your own, so you can imagine my relief being part of a group.
Into the Stadium: Estadio Atanasio Girardot and Its Roar, Right?
Okay, I reckon anyone who says a sports stadium has an “atmosphere” is totally underplaying it until you experience a place like the Atanasio Girardot stadium for a big soccer game! Even walking up to the stadium, for instance, you could feel the surge of energy that pulsed throughout. Then that security check, a bit of a squeeze, but fairly standard at major sports places globally. Once inside, bam! It felt like entering some absolutely giant cauldron. Flags very waved, drums were banging and supporters, I mean, they were really singing like their lives depended on it! This, apparently was quite something.
Our tour guides ushered us up to our allocated zone. And yep, top marks; the view? Perfect! More or less seeing the whole pitch unblocked and also high enough so you could absorb the sheer size of the place. Plus, they very were on hand to clear up just what all the different songs were, also that rivalry trivia. I could tell, for sure, that these guys loved their team, and it meant you suddenly felt much more invested, sort of. It wasn’t like just observing some thing; it felt more akin to jumping right into the action!
The Match Itself: More Than Just a Game, Actually
Regardless of the final outcome (I won’t give spoilers), wow! What I saw, to be honest it was unlike other soccer games I’ve ever experienced! I can see how Colombians take their soccer pretty darn serious! Obviously, what you have is a ridiculously exciting and quick kind of back-and-forth out on the green. But it had so much that other “edge” too it, sort of, that passion surging out of the stands – a total sensory hit!
One thing I thought was, well a bit amazing, were some chants and rituals – when the entire end where the hard-core supporters stood began hopping in sync. Seriously, that sent tingles down the spine! Our guide, by the way also made a point to get us, maybe to try a local snack which vendors sold – kind of, arepa-style corn cakes, absolutely yummy! What stood out the most, however, would be the sensation of truly belonging there as if it were, a regular fan, right amongst this huge party!
What Could Make the Tour Even Better, Right?
Right, so there are rarely bad tours, only better-to-excellent adventures to be had. While I thought, for instance that our guide and the org did great things. As a matter of fact a couple tiny modifications I’d happily endorse; possibly that they consider adding a small element that lets tourists give something back. Now what does that indicate? Maybe there would be opportunities as part of such trips perhaps, I want to say contribute resources directly for projects improving local kid’s sports in poor communities maybe? After something that feels so totally Colombian.
A bit like that can feel like doing much more than voyeuristic “tourism”, seriously! On a similar thing and especially for folk lacking superb Spanish skillz it, you know it may be an absolutely sound addition if parts inside explanations from organizers got translated (subtitled or whispered translations etc.). Basically, although they did try doing so already now; that sometimes seemed difficult when all surrounding folk got way too invested mid-shout!
So, Should You Jump into a Medellin Soccer Tour Then?
At the end of the day, would I vouch for a tour of this kind for other visitors over there at Medellin hoping get great feels during games? Absolutely! Considering stuff discussed earlier. Seriously, it’s especially ideal in order; A) First timers unsure handling transport stadium bureaucracy all without external help. or maybe B) Travellers possibly seek boost total experience rather going solo; C) Anyone whose key worries surrounding total wellbeing – so security in crowds become main question. If just even part touches anyone’s trip desires after I bet anyone giving trip get super glad chose this stuff ultimately. Here’s core key moments when exploring stuff from above, basically;
- It is what takes any bothers out surrounding stuff just similar obtaining very tickets plus moves!
- Pre festivities enhance all around feelings so allowing one fully blend at very heart by home devotees!
- It means insightfulness with back stories as to teams as well local mores or not something most visitors obtain when roaming through individually often, in other words
There you got very details; fingers crossed make great viewing memories right under super special nation! Oh remember shout loud by those stadiums plus hold some scarves flying really truly great, actually!
