London Tour Review: River Cruise and The Shard Entry

Have you, perhaps, considered seeing London from pretty much every angle? This walking tour, which throws in a boat trip on the Thames and a visit up The Shard, could be a way, if you wanted something like that. I wanted to give you, kind of, my take on if that experience is all it is cracked up to be, maybe pointing out the parts I liked and those, perhaps, less amazing, I thought that would be a fair thing to do.

What the Tour Includes

River Cruise London

What do you, sort of, get if you book this outing? This experience is, very, much like a triple threat of London experiences, too it’s almost like having three adventures rolled together, right? First up, so to speak, there’s usually a guided walking adventure through, well, some sections of the city, maybe showing you a bit of London’s history and, kind of, top landmarks as well, that. Think about strolling down those historic roads with someone pointing stuff out, too it’s almost like being in a film, I feel. Then you also get to hop on a relaxing trip on the River Thames, viewing iconic locations from the water. To me that’s cool, in fact.

And there’s the cherry on top, getting fast-track entry to The Shard. What I mean is you whizz straight up in a speedy elevator for, potentially, awesome views all across London, yet! So it’s a land, water, and sky combo, I thought it was neat, I will admit. What you should find is all your transport is sorted, entry fees get sorted for The Shard and the boat thing, plus a local person is right there who probably knows quite a lot to give information. It saves any possible problem from queuing, plus possibly learning a few snippets as you go. Basically.

The Walking Tour Component: Digging Into London’s Streets

London streets

Okay, so what I am talking about next? It’s a little consideration I think. I started things off pounding those pavements alongside a band of other explorers. Very similar to those people doing the very same thing, right? This adventure often kicks things off near, typically, one of London’s icons. Maybe that’s Trafalgar Square, right?, and our leader, usually, the walking tour person, made sure we knew exactly where the very beginning was. Apparently, that makes everything start well. To me at least. Now.

What makes a walking tour, well, useful is a person who can take the past and give it to you in a manner that’s kind of fun. Our person did that, telling funny bits plus sharing those lesser-known bits you wouldn’t read in some book, usually, you know? It’s more fun that way too, that! We walked past Parliament and Big Ben. Actually. You see some historical landmarks then, of course, get to take a ton of photos of the stuff you look at as you walk by. Not just that either!

The walking part had a decent speed to it, mostly that means not very quick, plus enough breathers for photos plus random questions to that leader type, really. It probably doesn’t cater to anyone who has problems moving about much, and you need reasonable trainers, and whatever the weather is like just be sure to put something appropriate on because, to be honest, you don’t want sore feet nor catch some cold, do you, now? Still.

Thames River Cruise: Floating Past Landmarks

River Thames cruise

Following your stomping all round town, I suppose there is a River cruise down, more or less, the Thames. You often get a chance to see those spots viewed already but now they are there as you pass, right by boat! I have found, arguably, there’s no matching sitting on deck with a wind sort of blowing through your locks while iconic sites slide by, arguably it can’t, yeah? I feel this adds another viewpoint.

Big sights, could be, for example, The Tower of London, Houses of Parliament and even The London Eye are spotted off the vessel. They, apparently, appear just different seen right from the River, sort of. The onboard speaking, sometimes via some recorded type narration, told background. Or perhaps shared historical factoids for that place, or even gossiped tales for several notable buildings which punctuate the skyline, that it did. That part, I suppose, could be very, good, sort of. To you.

I have, at least, found the river part to be, pretty much, quite restful, a kind of way to relax tired feet as well, that. I think they are really tired by this point of things. Perhaps I like boats though, that is that. If weather’s a bit blah there’s the indoors bit where to hide, meaning any rain showers don’t mess things up as much, at least not really. Clearly.

Ascending The Shard: Reaching for the Sky

The Shard

Is that what’s coming next? The final section gives access up that crazy tall skyscraper right, The Shard! The bonus too it’s almost is getting to miss a large chunk of the queues with fast-track entry which I certainly found pleasant, alright? As the elevator shoots you right up, so quickly it can hurt ears a bit if susceptible, the suspense mounts before things gets seen up high, more or less.

And then, wham. Right across most of London are things like famous attractions way below while it all radiates out to, I don’t know, that landscape which fades off away, really. At level sixty-eight I am told there’s some viewing area where some interactive telescope things might be for use. Then there’s the outdoorsy platform right up on level seventy two, too it’s almost like that if not windy it offers a kind of unmatched panorama, that I felt. Seemingly.

That being up The Shard bit proves some satisfying moment, I think it can bring such iconic views plus I had all kinds of opportunity, so it seemed, to get those top-notch pictures. What might disappoint? Days under cloud or fog would, somewhat, ruin your view I’d feel, alright. Although for us things worked nicely so all was just brilliant. Okay.

Good and Bad Bits About this Package

Pros and cons

The time to weigh the things found great, but also any bits seen as lesser, here then, maybe. How to explain this bit simply though, like your doing? Okay, some might suggest that, I don’t know, skipping all those lines up the Shard could be something amazing that really adds that certain wow-factor feel of it all plus saves some precious hours to do more, yet.

The convenience angle to that tour saves faffing with, could be, individual entries plus transports all on your own, maybe that saves time. What makes it valuable? Having the walking type section paired with people on boats adds interest I thought, it offers variety to stop things seeming so, typically, the same all of that, really. Not at all!

What do you not want? There probably needs to be a decent basic sort of fitness I’d wager, considering much hoofing round, mostly as part of the walking trip part, obviously, right? And some will find this triple header is that you stay mostly at tourist spots and iconic settings only; maybe that won’t suit one hoping to uncover random off-the-beaten-path stuff or the city beyond things aimed towards travellers specifically, mostly, of course.

Worth it? Summing-Up

Is that London Tour that wraps in a wander, cruise and Shard trip, so amazing I ask myself? For individuals wishing to hit such ‘big hitter’ touristy spots plus absorb city views spanning on roads, via river as up that height – this has much charm about it, truly. Seemingly. Maybe someone who wants those efficient outings and has pretty limited time – or perhaps does enjoy those organized city trips too – maybe the ticket has that thing which helps make that trip smooth so stress decreases quite significantly too it’s almost. Actually.

Having some physical levels and any sensible weather plan remain vitally important factors, though; too it’s almost always important to prep right, especially. Otherwise? That tour offered interesting memories spanning London by pavements, via boats then finally that high skyscraper right at top – leaving experiences one probably won’t soon forget, too it’s almost. So there.
