Lombok Pink Beach Tour Review: Secret Gilis & Snorkeling
Have you heard about Lombok’s Pink Beach? You probably already know it is one of those places that sound way too magical to be real. Yet, let me tell you, it completely lives up to its dreamy name. That trip I took there, including the Secret Gilis and snorkeling spots, well, that adventure was absolutely memorable. So, get comfy, and allow me to tell you all about my tour. This way you know just what to expect, and maybe pick up a tip or two for making your own trip totally great!
What Makes Pink Beach So Special?
You probably want to know, just why is it pink? Honestly, that’s a reasonable question. The pink hue that you see, that comes from crushed red coral mixing in with the regular white sand. It is almost like nature’s own special effect. It is certainly more obvious at some times of day than others, that is for sure. When the sun is really shining brightly? The colors really seem to pop, and trust me, it’s something you definitely need to see with your very own eyes. On top of that, Pink Beach in Lombok isn’t quite as crowded as some other pink beaches out there. It might be the perfect spot if you are looking to unwind.
Diving Into the Secret Gilis
The Secret Gilis, now, that’s another great part of the trip. They are basically smaller, less visited islands near Lombok. Think crystal clear water, beaches, and not many people. It is the sort of spot where you genuinely feel like you’ve discovered a real hidden treasure. Each gili has its own special personality, it almost feels. Gili Nanggu is super peaceful, you will get some excellent swimming there, honestly. Gili Sudak? The seafood restaurants have something really special happening there, it is so very tasty! Then there’s Gili Kedis, it’s teeny tiny. I mean seriously small! That makes it absolutely perfect for taking photos. I tell you what, I hopped from one island to the next and found myself with a whole day that felt like my own personal paradise. Not a bad day at all!
Snorkeling Adventures: What You’ll See
The snorkeling part of the tour? Truly outstanding. That is a good way to put it, I reckon. The water clarity around the Gilis is amazing. You’ll see coral reefs teeming with sea life. So many colorful fish that dart around. I spotted a couple of sea turtles cruising by super peacefully! If you haven’t snorkeled much, you don’t need to feel worried. The tour guides generally supply you with everything you need, so too they will give you a quick safety briefing. Honestly? Just float around and soak it all in, that’s what you will want to do.
Choosing the Right Tour Operator
Selecting the best tour operator really can make all the difference to your whole trip. I’d say do a bit of searching and look at reviews online. Do you want to read what other people have said? Make sure they are properly licensed and they place a high priority on safety. The tour that I chose? It was super well-organized, the guides were knowledgeable, and, most of all, very friendly. That, too, just added to the experience so much.
What to Bring With You
Alright, let’s discuss what to bring along so you can be as prepared as possible for your day out. Clearly, you should not forget sunscreen, you definitely need it! You also need a hat and sunglasses to properly protect yourself from the sun. It’s often pretty intense out there. A beach towel comes in handy, too, for drying off after you swim or snorkel. I suggest you wear comfortable swimwear. Taking a waterproof bag is often a wise decision, and so too a camera is advisable. It allows you to capture all those wonderful moments.
Getting to Pink Beach
You should probably think about how to exactly get to Pink Beach, as well. That part needs a little thought, honestly. It’s over on the southeast coast of Lombok, and it is fairly remote, in a way. Most people typically book a tour which includes transport, and that’s usually the simplest option, for certain. However, you may be able to rent a scooter and travel there yourself. Still, be mindful that the roads are not always in the best condition. Do you want an easier time? Then I’d personally stick with a tour. It just takes out all the guesswork.
Making the Most of Your Tour: Tips and Tricks
You should always keep these bits in your mind. Visit during the dry season months. The months between April and October? You will probably get better weather, at that time. Get to Pink Beach in the morning hours for the most incredible light and the fewest crowds. Remember to respect the local environment. Do not leave any trash behind, and avoid stepping on the coral whenever possible. A lot of tour companies often provide lunch, anyway. However, I suggest you still take some extra snacks and water just in case. A little preparation really can ensure you have a truly memorable experience.
