From Miraflores’ modern vibe, you could be going way, way back to pre-Inca times at Huaca Pucllana. The contrast, really, is really striking, I think. The huaca, is like, a gigantic adobe pyramid right in the middle of the city. So amazing that it’s just there, you know?

Our guide did such a superb job explaining how the Lima culture actually used the place. They pointed out the various sections and gave us these hints about the ceremonies that went down. What really made it, really, great was probably seeing all that from, sort of, the raised walkways. You still get this very nice feel for how huge the huaca is. You cannot actually climb the main pyramid just to keep things as they are. They keep trying, more or less, to keep the site, as they say, pretty much intact, in a way.

It got really hot during this segment of, literally, the tour. Do pack water and maybe bring a hat. There isn’t really all that much shade available.

Lunch with a View? Maybe, in a way…

Also that convenience factor is obviously very real. Picking you up right at your lodging makes, seemingly, life easier.

What Could be Better

Like any trip, arguably, you might discover some possible shortcomings. Huaca Pucllana, well, that deserves more time, basically. What you get there feels rather brief, so that’s an issue, to be honest. Even more so if you went for that eating option.

The sales tactics at some, basically, tourist shops, actually. Now, our guide definitely wasn’t too aggressive, just that it still felt a bit uncomfortable that that came about. They must always be mindful about how pushy vendors get.
