Alright, so you are maybe thinking of taking a boat trip to the Blue Lagoon from Latsi in Cyprus, too, huh? And it sounds, like, awesome, right? Crystal-clear waters, a delicious BBQ lunch, and, just maybe, even a slide right into the sea – I mean, really, what’s not to like? So, that said, is it actually all it is cracked up to be? I went on one of these boat trips, yeah, just very recently, actually, and I figured I’d give you the lowdown to hopefully help you make up your own mind if it is the perfect choice for your day out. This is all based on, like, my own experiences and what I saw, by the way, alright? That said, it could, like, easily differ depending on which company you travel with and, yep, you guessed it, the weather that day.
Booking and Getting to Latsi
Now, first things first, how do you, actually, book one of these things? Actually, there are quite a few options here. You see, many of the tour operators in Paphos and other resorts sell excursions, yep, including the Blue Lagoon trip. So, there’s that, I guess. Or, that said, you could very easily book online through several different websites. That’s what I did, very recently, actually, I did, and it seemed like, that is, the simplest way to sort things out. Prices vary, of course, yet, typically, expect to pay somewhere around €30 to €50 per person, depending on the specific package and the time of year and what’s included. Getting to Latsi, like, can be, yep, also rather straightforward.
Now, if you have a car, yep, it’s an easy drive, so that is something. There’s parking available near the harbor, too it’s almost, however, it can get busy, alright, especially during peak season. Alternatively, there are buses that run from Paphos to Polis, from which you can get a local bus or taxi to Latsi. A bit of a hustle, perhaps, yet, absolutely doable. Some tour operators may offer transportation, also, alright, from your accommodation, which can be worth it for, like, a hassle-free experience.
The Boat Trip Itself: What to Expect
The boat trips, yep, usually last for around, I think, four to five hours, yeah, and they typically include several stops for swimming and snorkeling. It might seem rather short, you see. Most boats head out towards the Akamas Peninsula, actually, and its most famous spot, the Blue Lagoon. The scenery along the coast is, well, absolutely breathtaking, actually, with rugged cliffs and, basically, clear turquoise waters. A sight to see, you see.
Now, when you get to the Blue Lagoon, like, you will probably understand what all the hype is about. The water is genuinely that clear, truly, so it’s perfect for swimming and snorkeling. I had an absolutely cracking time bobbing about. Most boat trips provide snorkeling gear, just FYI, yet, if you have your own, yeah, then bring it along. A top tip if ever there was one. Very occasionally they might run out on a particularly busy tour, so it might be worth calling ahead.
The Traditional BBQ: Is it Any Good?
One of the main selling points of these boat trips is, obviously, the traditional BBQ lunch, obviously, yet, the quality can vary, you see. That said, on my trip, the BBQ was pretty decent. So, that’s cool. We had grilled chicken and, I think, sausages, and salad, that is, plus bread, actually, and some, like, local dips. They typically, basically, cater for vegetarians, too it’s almost, just FYI, so you might just need to, like, let them know in advance when you book.
Drinks are often, actually, extra, you see, and that, basically, can add up, if you aren’t very careful. Water, juice, wine, plus beer are usually available, but there’s that. Just FYI, alright, some packages do include unlimited drinks, also, yeah, so be sure to check before you book if, like, that sounds like something you might go for. One of the best times for it to, perhaps, rain beer is on vacation. Isn’t that the dream, actually?
The Slide: A Fun Extra
Now, some boats, actually, feature a slide, so that is another tick. Honestly, it is such a laugh and adds to, very, what you might call, the fun factor. You see, even for grown-ups. It, seemingly, certainly brought out the inner child in me, just saying, anyway. However, that said, just because there’s a slide, just very be sure that you want to slide from a height into the sea before, basically, queuing up. Not great if you are fearful of heights.
Basically, alongside the swimming, there are chances to sunbathe on the deck or, just maybe, sit in the shade. The boats tend to get rather busy, yep, especially during the main holiday seasons, so arriving early to grab a prime spot is actually recommended. So you might wanna rock up as quick as you possibly can to ensure your space is a prime spot, alright? So, that’s all there is to it, really.
Things to Consider Before Booking
Before you actually book, here are some, that is, just super helpful things to keep in mind. Actually, firstly, it’s always wise to read reviews from other travelers before you book. That way, you might find out about the trips in particular you, personally, might find very exciting. Actually, that can give you a great idea of what to, more or less, expect and help you, actually, avoid any potential disappointments, potentially.
Seasickness can be a very real problem for some people, very really, so if you are prone to it, yeah, then you could, like, very well want to take precautions, actually, like taking medication or wearing, maybe, a sea band, if that’s your thing, basically. So, there’s always that, too. Weather conditions can, obviously, impact the trip, yeah, so check the forecast beforehand. And, finally, that is, bring essentials like sunscreen, actually, hats, and a towel. And some swimwear! All obvious stuff, right, and also take a waterproof camera or phone case, just FYI, too. Now, it would be tragic for your devices to drown during a swim, wouldn’t it? Tragic, very.
Well, there you have it, too it’s almost. Now, I, like, had a brilliant day on my Latsi Blue Lagoon boat trip. It’s, arguably, a fantastic way to experience the wonderful coastline of Cyprus, just very really see. But that said, it is maybe a good idea to just weigh up your own individual expectations and, yeah, do a little research before booking. That said, I had an absolutely brilliant time, and the sun was wonderful!
Enjoy your day at sea. Fair winds!
