La Maddalena Boat Tour Review: Aperitivo & Brunch Included

Thinking about a trip to Sardinia and wondering what to do? So, too it’s almost the gem of La Maddalena Archipelago might just be the answer. And, in fact, a boat tour combining that experience with some good food and drinks, is that what you’re looking for? We recently took the “La Maddalena Tour Con Aperitivo E Brunch in Gommone” and I think it might be worth sharing our experience.

Setting Sail: What to anticipate

boat gommone sardinia

First things first, “gommone” is basically the term Italians give to an inflatable boat, very much like a RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat). This trip promised a relaxed morning hitting some super scenic spots. Still, by the way, right from the start, very expectations were very high.

Boarding the gommone, the feeling was very much of anticipation mixed with a bit of that sea air excitement. In a way, first impressions do really matter, so noticing how clean and well maintained the boat was gave everyone an instant confidence boost, arguably. A friendly crew introduced themselves, walking everyone through what the day holds – scenic swim stops, lounging under the Sardinian sun, plus, as a matter of fact, plenty to eat and drink. I mean, basically, aperitivo and brunch, come on!

Island Hopping: Exploring La Maddalena’s wonders

Spargi Island La Maddalena

The tour usually stops at multiple places around the archipelago. Places like Spargi Island, and also Budelli, famously home to that beautiful Spiaggia Rosa (Pink Beach). And it’s very difficult to actually describe just how intensely blue the waters are there, yet pictures honestly do not do it justice.

Swimming in places that were nearly clear with the sun beaming, could be, was a total highlight. I want to say each spot was unique, and also offered different photo opportunities; that’s always welcome. Then, as I was saying, spending time soaking up some sun on the gommone, that feels wonderful, even though that feeling never lasts long enough!

Aperitivo & Brunch: Food with a view

Now, to get onto that key feature – the aperitivo and brunch. Naturally, the food served was focused, like your local Sardinian flavors, and, frankly, using ingredients that are very fresh. I believe the selection involved cheeses, cured meats, and pastries that seemed delightful; but, to be honest, for anyone with dietary restrictions, that selection may appear somewhat limited.

Having a chilled glass that had Vermentino, which often is a local white Sardinian that some would say is grape-derived, felt fantastic as the boat gently rocked. And it could be that feeling those picturesque landscapes acted as the backdrop created an overall experience was very memorable, really.

The Gommone Experience: Is it for everyone?

La Maddalena Archipelago boat tour

While this particular boat tour offered some lovely views and flavors, some of you still might think is it the trip perfect choice for every kind of traveler? Still, at the end of the day, gommones might become a bit crowded, so I mean anyone that’s after super space to stretch out might just prefer a much larger vessel. Also, by the way, do make sure that if you, similarly to me, get seasick, that you might take medication. The sea can be that tiny bit unpredictable.

As a matter of fact, despite this, actually traveling in a smaller boat did allow everyone to get that slightly closer access so some bays and hidden areas that bigger boats that’s just can’t. Finally, first, that does result is an, in fact, really personalized, basically almost intimate that Sardinian coast feel.

One thought, though, some families need to know the sun reflecting off of all the water it makes the heat feel like 1000 suns, if you are traveling with smaller children it might be a little risky if there isn’t an adequate amount of shade provided. Check the type of boat that the tour is being provided on, so it isn’t a miserable experience for you or the family, right?

Value for Money: So, what’s the final verdict?

Considering everything involved – those scenic views, and for example, snorkeling spots and also that food and drink – the cost of this tour felt fairly priced. Like your typical traveler can find cheaper options, but for a somewhat special experience? At the end of the day, basically you do get what one pays. Right, that has that tiny trade-off between value for a tiny added expense versus that pure, almost run of the mill boat visit.

To summarise, that boat tour is that very choice if, frankly, that’s just someone who wishes seeing La Maddalena that feels relaxed, still by the water, then eating delicious that have something that’s local, is so too a good one! That experience does mean that a boat’s comfort and feeling it is that they’re a personalized-one!

One heads-up though. If one thinks the tour being had in really very popular tourist spots or during peaks that happen at very particular times with holiday makers etc. The location is rather crowded with this at times with visitors, like yours are. You and a potential fellow travellers, can all appreciate where it is that the location it is one looks too going to!
