Istanbul’s TV Series Hotspots: A Tourist’s Review
Istanbul, is that one spot where history kind of winks at you from every corner, it is more than just grand mosques and crazy busy bazaars. It’s actually become quite a superstar on screen, is that, too, all thanks to the mega-hit Turkish TV series which are known as “dizis” which have swept way, way across the globe. From historical dramas showing sultans making some grand moves to present-day romances showing lovers stealing glances, these shows are kind of throwing a big, huge spotlight on some spots across Istanbul. So, I went on kind of a mission: to kind of dig a little deeper and visit a few of those spots. Get ready, because, like, here’s a peek at spots where your fave dizis sprang to life!
Dolmabahçe Palace: The Palace of Power and Drama
Dolmabahçe Palace, very picture how over-the-top luxury might look, used to be the pad for the Ottoman sultans sometime around the mid-19th century. So, like, you might catch it looking pretty fancy as a backdrop in historical dramas, which show palace intrigue at play, so too power changing hands. It shows off some killer details: think massive chandeliers, gold practically covering the walls, and some super elegant rooms, I want to say all kind of scream opulence. Wandering those halls makes one realize all sorts of plots may be being hatched in them and I would like your shows brought all that scheming back to life for you and I.
Grand Bazaar: More Than Just Shopping
The Grand Bazaar, it’s not only a cool shopping zone for souvenirs and sweet treats. Very twist: it tends to jump into quite many scenes on the television. You can see main people in the story running all across it, important meet-ups happen around spice stalls, or people might get kinda lost as the storylines play out. The very buzz of what goes on there, plus the antique vibe of it gives off all the perfect kinda cinematic thing. Like, just taking a stroll is cool way watch people and very maybe stumble right into like you are inside something big going down on screen.
Süleymaniye Mosque: An Oasis of Calm
Süleymaniye Mosque, which some like to call a total getaway from that nutty busy streets in Istanbul, can too feature as quite calm scene in lots of dizis. Its massive size and elegant architecture lend real punch to these scenes and add even depth. A really sweet peacefulness to those scenes that are played around this religious area too and like very shows may use its outline as to create drama on love and soul searching inside this space it is for your soul.
Ortaköy Square: The Romantic Hub
Ortaköy Square is very cool hub set to near Bosporus, its cool restaurants along its coast offer lots romantic backdrops many rom-com like to tap. Its famous bridge which is also kinda iconic, and is where the people go at sun down adds great dramatic kind of glow on such story as seen from these show locations. When taking slow walk, there along these waters edge, is good as a way catch great sunset views that make just want very movie moment might pan out.
Balat and Fener: The Historical Quarters
Balat and Fener it is a sweet step to when Istanbul kind shows way more its past can look and both like it’s very color-rich districts, too, full historical cool sites. Think little homes color washed, paths are kinda curved; is way can see quite people shot like many like to think and, actually very time people love to think back to that cool time from many stories of TV, I swear it could have taken set pieces straight from what is playing, those houses or just all sites those that just could play quite part which, actually adds some depth any TV shot scenes when this plays behind the actor too it looks all the more real!
I wanted just say those TV shows did shine extra light on those hot spots here at Istanbul, those old cities have like a lot, when going like filming set pieces just all cool tourist stopovers there are, there it shines a great experience.
Istanbul’s charm is definitely kind felt those show runners chose these hot spots it tells how they too appreciate like their backdrop just how well can carry over to those people.
