Huacachina Sunset Sandboarding & Buggy Experience Review
Okay, so you’ve heard of Huacachina, right? It’s almost this small desert oasis in Peru, and maybe you’re considering doing the sunset sandboarding and buggy tour. Well, let me tell you about it. This whole experience isn’t just something you see in photos, yet it’s a total blast that gets your pulse racing and provides a handful of unbelievable sunset views. My goal here is really to give you the lowdown on the trip, from the insane buggy rides to tearing down the dunes on a sandboard, so you can, too, figure out if it’s something that aligns with what you seek. Basically, think of this as your guide to seeing if this iconic Peruvian desert adventure lives up to the hype. It, arguably, will be!
What to Expect from the Buggy Ride
Now, the buggy ride…where do I begin? Maybe you’re picturing a kinda calm, leisurely drive across the sand. Ha! Not even. It’s more like a roller coaster without the tracks. The drivers really appear to know what they’re doing, by the way, so you usually feel safe, though expect a wild ride. These buggies basically go flying up and down what looks like colossal sand dunes at what seems like warp speed. Basically, the dips are stomach-flipping, and that views from the top? They’re, well, breathtaking— if you dare to open your eyes, naturally. Just a little tip: that back row? It, apparently, gets the most air. If that makes sense. So, too, if you like a softer ride, ask for the front.
A little detail that might just slip your mind is keeping your mouth shut. So very many people forget, and wind up with a mouthful of sand. Trust me, so it’s really not the souvenir you want to bring back! It, arguably, gets everywhere. Additionally, so that you’re able to focus on what’s happening, hold on tight to the safety bars. I mean, seriously, white-knuckle grip. You will possibly need it. Is that you have, even at times it felt that my insides could potentially come up as a consequence of the steep ascents and abrupt descents! It, arguably, is a wild but thrilling warm-up act for sandboarding, at the end of the day. It is also a pretty unforgettable way to view the desert views surrounding Huacachina. I do see that my recommendation can sound like scaremongering but it certainly wasn’t! The buggy tour makes for an out-of-the-body experience.
The Thrill of Sandboarding
Okay, so after surviving the buggy ride, get ready for the next adrenaline rush: sandboarding. Right? You’re there standing on top of a huge dune, with a board that seemingly looks kinda like a snowboard. Even at times there is this sudden realization that you need to go down! Now, you do have a few options. Most beginners apparently go for lying down on the board and sliding headfirst. Basically, I’ll be honest: it’s quick, it’s kinda scary, but it is also remarkably fun. But, that getting sand everywhere? Well, that’s virtually guaranteed. The slightly braver might just want to try standing up. Yet, be warned, this, too, takes practice and a solid sense of balance. The instructors that can be found tend to give you quick pointers, yet don’t expect a professional lesson. Is that falling is just kinda part of the experience— and landing on sand is definitely more forgiving than ice!
I did see that wax that board thoroughly is just something that needs to be done. Actually, this really is key for a smooth ride. And so, do try different dunes. That’s right, some are more steeper than others, or even offer a smoother ride, in that case try testing them out and seeing what is enjoyable for each of them. Is that it can even be thrilling but so incredibly fulfilling as you improve and have that desert air blowing in your hair as a consequence. If there is the desire to take photos, maybe consider a mount so that they stay safe and take lots of them as the sunset can be an exceptional moment to capture. And if nothing else do have some fun in this remarkable, remarkable location.
Catching the Sunset
And then, basically, there’s the sunset. Is that as the day apparently draws to a close, that desert transforms. Right? It, apparently, shifts the views and you can see the way it illuminates and emphasizes shadows of golden and red tones. This is the time, I believe, the drivers basically find a prime location atop one of the dunes. You then are able to basically sit back, unwind, and appreciate that vista. It’s something really quite captivating to observe how sun lowers behind those dunes, thus coloring all in gold and scarlet colors that seem like fire.
Ensure that to take advantage of these photos at any of that moment! That sunlight, which looks as though colored gold and also a sky turning myriad of colors is probably quite the thing. Just to emphasize here and there, there appear that folks who seem just there for those golden hours which gives chance for those stunning photos you have probably seem previously from others there as they pose among dramatic shadows/light/dark contrast in dune land scenes where skies appear alive because its incredible tones/shades. One idea is that if considering this do remember that also it does feel pretty cool on that dune when night begins creeping along at the end.
What to Bring and What to Wear
So, let’s, too, talk about packing. Basically, that sand gets everywhere, alright? Seriously, everywhere. Is that you’ll want to have clothes you don’t love, and dark colors, basically, help hide the inevitable stains. Basically, sunglasses are quite a must. Right? And basically, slather on that sunscreen basically well before you start. So, to speak, bring water—that desert sun might be fairly intense. As well as, think about having a camera or, seemingly, phone for pictures, but keep it secure. Yet, something a lot of folks ignore is a scarf or bandana. So, too, wrap it around your face. Actually, this is quite protecting against wind and blowing sand!
The clothes depend too on these, and do think how can that cool you on these while day but that could well feel pretty breezy late each day too after sundown then gets down fast once that light slips beneath horizons edges since after being warmed by sunshine/warmth gets icy pretty fast. Make sure comfortable that’s possible! Don’t pack bulky sweaters since do have those space issues in backpack with this one. Lastly for cameras that could mean using protected baggies! If your doing it all. Because everything then turns to this kind of smooth grain.
Is the Huacachina Sandboarding & Buggy Experience Worth It?
Okay, is it very worthy enough to do it? It really depends. Now, that buggy ride could be something too rough for a few, as a matter of fact, there are also instances where others really appreciate sand in every crevice! Well, the moments right while sand surfing seem not ideal if don’t love possibility getting bit scraped up because also some tumbles do occur! The view while night comes right just at setting looks certainly as special event though? With this fact what do those expect who love being with outdoor and seeing this scene is great moment to catch nature while the landscape gets more dark in such ways that feel unique with yourself included from it all with such scenery around these sides? Anyway, so consider any preferences!
I did notice that some of my highlights were basically those moments up by those dunes at that sunset plus the kind-hearted and open tour people really can lift these overall feelings you have throughout those memories made for what this became/has brought as such something which may remain to show that had taken it away here when done/experienced as travelers on vacation together as whole.
