Huacachina Buggy & Sandboarding Tour: A Desert Adventure Review

So, you’re thinking of heading to Huacachina, Peru, maybe, and wondering if the buggy and sandboarding tour is worth it, right? I mean, let’s face it, pictures of that little oasis town surrounded by massive sand dunes really do look unreal. I’m here to give you the lowdown on my experience. Think of this as your heads-up from someone who has been there, wiped out on a sand dune, and lived to tell the tale, basically!

Getting to Huacachina: First Things First

Alright, so Huacachina is just a stone’s throw from Ica, which, I think, makes it super easy to get to, actually. Most folks roll in by bus, that is, especially if you’re coming from Lima or Nazca. The bus trips can be a bit of a slog, yeah, but the views once you get close to Ica make it very worthwhile, almost. Very much!

Now, you’ve got a couple of options for bus companies. Cruz del Sur tends to be like, kind of fancier, yet more expensive, sort of like flying first class, you could say. Oltursa is very another good option, too it’s pretty solid, that is. Anyway, these buses generally feature comfy seats, and air conditioning, stuff like that, so it’s nearly bearable, I promise. From Ica, it’s just a super short taxi or mototaxi trip to Huacachina; you could say you are practically already there!

Booking Your Buggy and Sandboarding Tour

So, here’s the deal about scoring a tour. You have, like, a couple of different ways to do it, but I’ll share what I learned. When you get there, basically all of Huacachina offers them. So, you, like, can book something once you’re there and have your feet on the sand. Is that great?

Alright, so walking around, it might seem convenient, is that right? Is that every other storefront basically shills tours. You are very bargaining with a local company. So, that is super doable.

If you are the planning type, you actually have, like, some options online, seemingly. I found quite a few sites that offer these packages, yet reading the fine print on things, seems almost wise, so it could very make sure there are no funky surprises once you show up, is that alright? Anyway, those last-minute tour-sellers are really offering better deals. So, I thought, anyway.

If you like something locked down, it might make you have, like, a way smoother situation for your trip.

The Buggy Ride: Hold On Tight!

Okay, I mean the buggy ride is seriously like, a roller coaster, arguably, even though it is on sand, right? As I was saying, I’m very one for thrill-seeking activities, seemingly. However, as a matter of fact, even I was gripping onto the safety bar like my life depended on it, virtually. Now, seriously, these drivers, wow, right? They clearly know these dunes like the back of their hands, often. So, they send that buggy soaring over the peaks and swooping down into the valleys. Like wow.

So, it could be bumpy, admittedly, that is, yet that’s totally part of the fun, you see? If you have any back problems, maybe you should think for a second about the type of experience. Also, actually it can be an incredibly wild ride.

Then, what, the views, like as the sun begins its descent, are awesome, for example! I am quite making a pit stop at the higher points to soak in this sight. I saw, you know, all that golden sand stretching out forever, very. Remember all those colours popping when the sun starts going down?

Sandboarding: Carving Up the Dunes (or Attempting To)

Right then, after you’re like, all juiced up from the buggy, anyway. So, then it’s sandboarding time. Like your inner snowboarder gets ready to shine or crash very hard, typically. Most tours give you, like, a board. So, you can put wax on it, like your surfboarding but made of sand!

Okay, I mean, it sounds super cool to be standing up and, like, cruising down a dune, really. Yeah, well let’s just say most folks start on their bellies, in that case. That’s also almost what I ended up doing anyway, and I, you know, had an absolutely great time. The deal is that, when you gain some momentum, you nearly laugh. Yet, when I crashed I found sand in all the places. Seriously.

Of course, you should hear the advice. Listen really good. They almost have, like, a way they prefer that you use to avoid injuries and some other funny stuff. And, wear sunscreen, because that sun can be so deceiving, right?

What to Bring With You

Alright, so what should you actually drag along with you to make this the best time imaginable? You can take what I know, almost!

• Sunscreen That sun beams without care. So, something strong to block out damage!
• Sunglasses Seriously, you can prevent your vision from getting really annoyed at you. That dune reflection hurts after sometime!
• Water Seriously, so do pack that H2O. That’s really all you’re doing to think of there, alright!
• Snacks Okay, now just pack them. This isn’t super serious or something, you know. Seriously. Have something.
• Camera Dude you totally will hate yourself otherwise, clearly!
• A scarf or bandana Right so, the dust loves blowing like really hard so yeah that is one way to fix that annoyance. Like you just saved the world with the decision!

Is the Huacachina Buggy and Sandboarding Tour Worth It?

Alright, listen, so all of it makes sense once you do all this work, obviously, you know. It might, arguably, kind of blow you out, maybe. Then again, you know, you saw this thing that a heap load of people only can dream about, alright. Do not be too shocked if this really stands out.

Now that, like your being super high, seems not really all that relevant. Just, what is that I can do every once in a while in my hum-drum town again?
