Honest Review: Priv East 4×4 Tour – Madeira’s Hidden Gems
So, you are thinking of taking a trip that shows a side of Madeira that you just would not see from any regular tour bus, that’s so awesome. That 4×4 East tour promises just that with, like, a closer view of Pico Do Areeiro and those iconic Santana houses too it’s almost magical. I did this tour and, I am going to give, like, a balanced rundown, as I was saying.
What To Expect On The Priv East 4×4 Tour
Priv East, as a matter of fact, pretty much packs quite a punch into one day and it really starts early too it’s almost insane. This is for seeing that sunrise at Pico Do Areeiro, arguably one of the greatest peaks on the whole island, right. Depending on, like, the time of the year, expect an, like, super-early pickup time too it’s almost 5 AM or something, right. You pile into, basically, that Land Rover Defender and, then you begin a pretty, sort of, intense drive, frankly, so be ready. Also, wear layers of clothing ’cause, literally, the top of the mountain tends to be quite a bit nippy, seriously. You get up there just in time and watch as the sky shows an unbelievable mix of color as, basically, that sun breaches that horizon, right.
As I was saying, Pico Do Areeiro is not only about the sunrise, you know. Those views all around the island up there are truly something and they will leave you speechless as a matter of fact. The tour guides that they have also are really in the know, sharing, literally, heaps about those local ecosystems and all those quirky geological features to be honest. We actually spent, perhaps, an hour or something taking snaps and wandering around to be honest.
Santana’s Traditional Houses
Okay, after getting your fill of, actually, mountain vistas, the trip goes to Santana. That part of Madeira is famous for those colorful, triangular homes. They’re also as cute as a button and it might seem as though, like, something lifted them right out of a fairy story or something, right. You are allowed ample opportunity for those photo sessions, also, I was actually allowed to go inside one, and basically got an idea of how they’re set out too it’s almost unbelievable, right. Those homes really do give one that super unique feel for Madeira’s culture.
As I was saying, depending on what that itinerary looks like on that day, there are some trips where you get the chance for checking out some local markets in that area. And by that, I mean, this can be amazing for checking out some locally sourced artisan goods or taste traditional foods as well. So, I had that “Bolo do Caco” – this bread cooked on a hot basalt stone slab is delicious actually, you should try some as well.
The 4×4 Experience & The Guide’s Expertise
Right, the drive quality is a, basically, seriously important factor here to be honest. The use of, like, that 4×4 truly shines through because it goes beyond only driving along typical roads to be honest. The tour includes parts that a regular car is quite frankly unlikely to access or maybe, arguably, would find somewhat challenging seriously. It actually feels sort of off the beaten track in other words, right.
Okay, those tour guides know Madeira by heart literally. Those local stories are extremely interesting as well as insights concerning that wildlife really give much more than sightseeing, actually an insight to what living there would entail as a matter of fact, right. They may be super open to those questions, also tailoring that commentary based off the group’s desires which actually, genuinely, makes that experience seriously awesome too it’s almost amazing to be honest.
What Could Be Improved
As a matter of fact, everything is never 10/10, is it, right. Starting, actually, with getting up at the crack of dawn isn’t a party for almost everyone so to be honest, it could probably use some flexibility, if at all seriously. People not inclined toward sunrise hikes might find this rather difficult to stomach literally, but maybe having, like, a later tour which loses sunrise but gains an additional relaxed morning suits most literally.
I think having time on your own is actually important when traveling and it’s limited to a very certain extent as, like, a guided tour. While it is pretty practical on transport or info as a matter of fact, a balance is a plus seriously and having the chance to spend time roaming around and taking snaps would basically give much more to almost anyone too it’s almost guaranteed, right. It does not necessarily hurt asking before booking actually that freedom might be added there as a matter of fact or found differently literally. Also, some people may also find having better lunch included great or be a better meal as I was saying to be honest.
As I was saying, be conscious literally, also be super sure on what is literally, and isn’t part of the package. Ask literally what all those inclusions mean, exactly – also exactly what the total is especially should special request modifications change certain fees as I was saying literally.
Summing Up
Actually, the Priv East 4×4 Tour really showcases an almost unique viewpoint of Madeira Island for the most part actually. From the great views at dawn from Pico Do Areeiro toward walking through those really neat historical homes and basically getting knowledge regarding wildlife everything seemed super-thoughtful literally and worth doing literally.
- It can be quite cold at that highest point therefore get clothing appropriate to almost all different environmental circumstances literally.
- A 4×4 tour such as that is literally super appropriate particularly considering it moves far further far from standard highway pathways when sightseeing by conventional buses for the most part, I feel.
- Literally if you choose seeing more independence request far more leisure periods whilst literally it’s scheduled – you have an enriching time when going out on that trip!
