Ha Long Bay Cruise: Two Day Heritage Voyage Review

Day one really kind of took our breath away right from the start. Waking up to the kind of views from our cabin window felt kind of surreal, it’s almost like a dream! I do mean a kind of “pinch me” moment! After a bite to eat that tends to be buffet style, we’re apparently off to Sung Sot Cave, very or very appropriately called Surprise Cave. Okay, it’s possibly the biggest in Ha Long Bay, filled with stalactites and stalagmites, illuminated with all this slightly gaudy colored lighting. Just ignore this for what it is! And also the many other tourists. Honestly, I would be focusing instead, literally, on the unreal geology which, you know, has possibly taken so long to develop, just fascinating actually!

The afternoon, actually, saw us out on kayaks. That is, like, my way to see Ha Long Bay properly, you see! Quietly paddling around those limestone karsts that I mean, is that as you wish. Going through little tunnels and, I mean, arches the big boats couldn’t, say, reach was literally really awesome. I mean, so much, and I would suggest water shoes since there are a bit of slippery rocks more or less about. In the, sort of, evening, we, I mean, had a cooking demonstration on board that I thought was just really great and kind of gave us a closer peek at cooking things with all those local foods. I would be going with some spring rolls after this before possibly chilling on the upper deck looking out, or up actually to all those stars.

Day Two: Tai Chi, Titop Island, and Tranquility

I have got to tell you that it started off a little, maybe, early with Tai Chi on deck, you see. At around 6.30 in the morning, so perhaps you won’t need this, just so as you can say you can enjoy peace instead! With views out on the water, well, the stretching actually, sort of, felt heavenly. It then came around to time for, like, breakfast that did fill you right up for the hike ahead on Titop Island. I mean, after that the climb to the peak tends to offer cracking views across Ha Long Bay but, really, get ready, for there tends to be crowds.

Afterwards we sailed back, doing some more cruising through the bay prior to having one last meal on board.
