Exploring Easter Island: Discovering the North Coast of Rapa Nui

So, Easter Island, or Rapa Nui as the locals say, it’s more or less this pretty remote volcanic island way out in the Pacific Ocean. What makes it special, anyway, is that it’s known for these gigantic stone figures, you know, the Moai. That’s right, and the north coast of the island, it has these places that show you these ancient mysteries, so the story of the island is a bit easier to imagine.

Anakena Beach: Sun, Sand, and Ancient Guardians

Anakena Beach Easter Island

Anakena Beach, now that place it has this legendary past as the landing spot of the first Polynesian settlers, just like the legends tell. Arguably, seeing those iconic Moai, very, they stand guard, well, at the edge of this lovely beach with that white sand, could be very amazing. This area is great, usually, if you’re trying to relax and enjoy the views that, for example, are great for photographers. And, of course, those calm waters are perfect too if you plan to do a bit of swimming.

Now, that feeling when you first arrive at Anakena, seeing those big Moai against the blue water, too, is almost overwhelming, yet quite captivating. As I was saying, it’s not only the views, yet the feeling of stepping onto that legendary land, more or less, you begin to understand Rapa Nui’s history, you know? Seemingly, just a little while there makes that ancient civilization feels, perhaps, more real.

Experiencing Anakena

Visiting Anakena, actually, is really, I mean really quite straightforward. It tends to be best to go there early, in fact, anyway to almost miss the larger groups of people and almost have this peaceful time with those Moai. So, that warm, clear water, very, it practically invites you to come have a swim. Still, I usually recommend to stay close to the shore, anyway. Arguably, those views are what make this place more awesome.

Another thing, alright, you want to keep in mind is to pack, like your own food and water, by the way, just to be prepared, I think, because options nearby can be kinda pricey, so to be prepared is good, right? What I did was to take with me this simple picnic, yet that added that thing that, like your connection with the place seemed special, literally, too it’s almost like becoming a part of the island. That said, don’t forget your sunscreen and hats because there is no shade at all, seriously, the sun there it can be too intense, arguably, after a couple of hours.

Ahu Tongariki: Witnessing the Grandeur of Rapa Nui

Ahu Tongariki Easter Island

Ahu Tongariki, this is the biggest Moai platform there is on Easter Island, and probably anywhere. Basically, those 15 Moai statues just stood there, they stand tall, by the way, so they are impressive against the sky. As a matter of fact, they can really offer a look into that, seemingly, amazing engineering ability, very of the islanders, even the artistry, usually.

That area, that whole site, so, that’s more or less a place for feeling that spiritual vibe, anyway, too, almost imagining what went into moving those giants centuries ago, in fact. Just walking there among such enormous creations it almost gives you, arguably, such humbleness, or makes me feel that way, seriously. In fact, what is cool is how that history and artistic expression, in a way, really blend at that place. What I’ve understood about that area is a strong message, arguably, about ingenuity that has resisted against time itself. Anyway, Rapa Nui culture just lives at that spot, anyway.

Sunrise at Ahu Tongariki

Many would say, or at least a good thing to know could be, the best time to see Ahu Tongariki, still, may just be at dawn. First, watching that sun rise behind the Moai, really, almost makes for this magical image, honestly. Still, to be there right before, I think you need to plan for getting there really early, like perhaps even before sunrise. Also, if you are a photograph lover, there that chance to get this memorable picture is real.

Another awesome tip: be mindful with that camera configuration. Usually, that golden light has its own effects, so almost setting your camera for those softer tones tends to bring up those true colours in your photos, almost capturing the vibe. By the way, watching that light creep along those Moai makes, really, almost seeing the faces appear, like they are starting to live again.

Te Pito Kura: The Navel of the World

Te Pito Kura Easter Island

Alright, Te Pito Kura, or “the navel of the world,” it seems is, seemingly, known for this big round stone, honestly, that supposedly gives out that, seemingly, unknown energy. As I was saying, that stone is supposed to have, almost, magical things about it. Of course, you want to listen what all those local myths suggest when, really, really seeing what all that folklore shows about places like these.

That calm all around this area, virtually, with only that wind talking as your friend, makes you really ponder just the significance of what you might see there. You will feel the old times just there when thinking those ancients just pictured this as the central place. All right, just going by your feelings there can make that visit super memorable. Of course, for anyone wanting places which have stories or a personal contact with something unexplainable, it may be the thing they wanted.

Feeling the Energy

Alright, talking to many who have went there before, the actual thing, usually, is just how you feel, by the way, close to that stone. You, that energy from this place tends to show for those willing to be there and feel. To be clear, touching that stone can give you an interesting time, almost trying for that sense of that contact to past worlds. In particular, even, very for those that may be more cautious or sceptic, being respectful that area that local story brings may mean a big difference, definitely.

Just an additional tip. Usually, that surrounding landscapes there can be great if you have a clear weather. When coming there, to capture that perfect background along with this central rock to produce very awesome pictures, makes it totally perfect to almost mix that personal adventure story. What’s more, for me at least, being attentive of this personal area may also change, very at least a bit how one sees, I mean sees this planet in an expanded dimension, naturally. However, it could mean also a unique feeling for each to their unique taste!

Exploring the Northern Shores: Beyond the Icons

Easter Island coastline

Beyond the icons, the big stones, in fact, Easter Island, right, almost can feel alive just from just moving along with its coasts up North. After all, such coastal scenes may be worthy from stopping so as to enjoy. By the way, the nature that has built up from thousands, just only a few years there, with that water and rocky features show more than just views. Indeed, even a relaxed short journey, honestly, along this perimeter has unique, basically great learning stuff.

The northern edge can lead, or almost shows secret places, even hidden caves that I think can only heard sometimes as legend. If that is one’s desire, or wish, and of course when safe, those little discoveries usually has an extra touch. Almost what is quite common with such coastal routes, is to bring along that cam because really one might, literally, just get that image that you have just envisioned a very long while since then.

Hiking Tips for the North Coast

Before going for trails on Easter Island, really, make certain one gets geared-up safely so that things tend not happen out unwished, or worse end up as bad memories. Most will tell you, almost, or very certainly just get along the appropriate walking stuff and bring adequate fluid, right? Almost at any place around is, surely is very imperative with Easter to think, obviously, as what feels right at this instance, and of course being ready for fast changing conditions might very well.

Very important as well, I have realised almost from people mentioning or me experiencing: almost not getting out from marked routes if without local to walk, might be crucial as any injury while too further than a place not easy to reach while remote has, you get, can get all crazy. What also is cool I might note it down if really you are very enthusiast or in condition to wander or go around just make sure others be advised: almost sending places that would love visit and all that, by any case any wrong has not just only great stuff in store only, okay?
