It’s arguably mad, yet absolutely memorable. It’s almost, that everyone is packed close, it’s loud, and the smells? Everything from street food to spices, to, well, something slightly less savory occasionally. That’s part of the experience! My guide suggested a specific vendor for some aloo tikki and jalebi, which, to be honest, was pretty top-notch. Street food can seem intimidating, yet with the right advice, it’s arguably a treat.

Speaking of treats, so food is a big deal in Old Delhi. It’s often just everywhere and a big draw for pretty much any tourist visiting Delhi. If you’re very adventurous, dive right in. My guide, they knew their stuff, so steered me to places that appeared clean and popular with locals. I tried a bit of everything from parathas stuffed with spiced potatoes to some rather delicious kebabs. We swung by India Gate, which often provides a really good photo opportunity and a chance to stretch your legs. Humayun’s Tomb was another stop, and to be honest, it’s really beautiful. I probably was surprised, too, by how peaceful it felt compared to the rest of Delhi. A bit like an oasis. Make sure, too it’s almost, that you wear comfy shoes as there will often be a fair bit of walking around these places.

Architectural Marvels of New Delhi

India Gate, Humayun’s Tomb, and Qutub Minar? Like, these places are pretty amazing. The detail and scale of the architecture is often something else, very Instagrammable for the photo enthusiast in your life, and each arguably tells a story about Delhi’s past. Your guide will actually likely pepper you with info, very historical bits and pieces that add some extra flavor to what you are checking out. Take it in. And you will often be pretty stunned that people built that!

What to Expect from Your Guide and Driver

Your guide, right? They make or break the experience. Mine? He actually knew his history, so really seemed very happy to answer every single goofy question I had and was pretty tuned into keeping the tour interesting. The driver was a pro too, right? He weaved his way through Delhi traffic, probably a driving deity I figured, and kept the car nice and cool. That tends to be important when it is scorching outside! Chat to both. They often have recommendations. Also, be rather decent and make certain you tip them. It’s part of the culture, very much.

Handling the Delhi Heat and Hustle

Big cities all around the globe, they often attract scam artists. Delhi’s pretty alike in this area, too it’s almost, that a head’s up is arguably essential.
