Dakhla Horseback Riding Tour: An Honest Review
Thinking of giving the Dakhla Horseback Riding Tour a go? You know, it’s one thing to see these tours advertised and a totally different thing to actually go on one. So, let’s talk about what you can expect. What really makes it worth the money, what maybe to watch out for, too. Is it some crazy, unforgettable experience? Or just a typical tourist thing? That’s what we’ll find out.
What Makes Dakhla Special?
So, Dakhla’s pretty interesting actually, it’s not your everyday vacation spot. That is, it’s in Western Sahara, a place that has a bit of a history. It’s super well-known for its incredible views, that seem to go on forever. Then there’s the wind, constantly blowing, very appreciated by kitesurfers from all over, apparently. Yet the thing is, it has this calm vibe, something that gets you when you get there. Anyway before all of this adventure there’s a history, from the Spanish colonisation to more recent sovereignty disputes, giving Dakhla a layered identity. This history adds, well, a bit more to the landscape if you know what I mean, turning this stunning destination into a place of significant cultural value.
First Impressions of the Tour
The tour people were actually, alright. Turns out they pick you up straight from your hotel. So you won’t have to bother figuring out local taxis and all that. You know? As I was saying, when I showed up, the horses, well, seemed really looked after, which mattered to me, I am a fan of horses after all. So they match you with a horse that, in a way, fits your skill. Maybe it’s that you haven’t sat on one for twenty years, or maybe that you are something of a cowboy. Obviously, you’re not gonna get Seabiscuit straight off the bat. Once on, we started slow, you know, getting the feel of it. Is that everything someone expects from this kind of outing? Let’s find out.
Riding Through the Desert Scenery
We started trotting into the desert that seems never ending, and, you see, that’s where the tour got good. The views, were very very wide, and, yes, gorgeous. Sand dunes everywhere and the sky going on forever. That is what really struck me, there was this calmness, with just the sound of the horse hooves on the sand. I mean, very awesome. So, the guide knew a lot, too, about the land itself. Telling us stuff about the desert life and some of the local tales. Apparently, seeing that side of Dakhla from a horse, there’s, a thing that touches something in you.
Beach Riding Experience
And then comes beach riding. Now, is that fun, actually! So, picturing riding along the coast, and the sea air’s in your face, and you’re just kind of cruising along the water’s edge. The horse seemed to dig it, too, and it was, well, it felt amazing, to be frank. We went by these lagoons, full of birds, just kind of chilling, very, very peaceful. The water’s a gorgeous shade too it’s almost turquoise here, that adds this little, thing to the whole scene. Honestly, I never thought galloping on a horse next to the sea could be very good fun. That good? You know, that kind of blew me away, in a way.
What to Consider Before Booking
Right, very key bits before you even think of handing over your cash. First, just think about the time of the year. Very hot out here, sometimes scorching. So, winter’s probably your best bet if you can do that, but it might be the same for you. I was there around then, and it was perfectly bearable, very perfect in some respects. You should probably also consider the riding. If you are some sort of expert and you’ve been show jumping since you were tiny, or you have basically never been near a horse in your life, it probably will be the same adventure. Very obviously, they put together a hack that’s fine for everyone. However if you are anxious around big animals then I’m not sure this adventure is best suited to you. One more, make sure to clarify all details before you hand over your hard earned money. Be crystal clear on costs. That is what’s included, what isn’t, so you avoid any issues on the spot.
The Overall Verdict
So, at the end of the day, did I enjoy the Dakhla Horseback Riding Tour? Pretty much I did actually. Yes, the views were indeed very spectacular. The horses looked content. And, is that such a bad thing to experience something memorable? Well no. If you are keen to switch off and like seeing nice places in some fresh new style. Then this may be the thing for you, anyway, yeah.
