Cusco Trip Review: Heart of the Andes in 8 Days

Alright, you know, so Cusco! This city really sits way up high in the Andes, is that right? Eight days there felt just a little like stepping into a totally different existence, like your everyday fades away, you know? Okay, the following days? Just spectacular. In fact, Cusco itself is much more than just your basic gateway spot, alright, you know, before you jet off, like, Machu Picchu. First of all, those buildings! Pretty much layered with stuff. This, a crazy mix of really well done Spanish construction basically, and the foundations of buildings of Inca times. The Spanish architecture is obviously stunning. Just you wait until you glimpse the Inca stones still visible, even as parts of some buildings. I mean it seems that the Cusco Cathedral for example? This huge building overlooking the Plaza de Armas? Seriously makes your head turn. A lot of art, of course! Very, very ornate, if you’re inclined to go check it out.

In some respects, I actually really liked just getting kinda lost, I mean like pleasantly lost, alright, wandering the San Blas area, you know? This little artsy neighborhood with narrow cobblestone walkways, basically, that go snaking up the hillside. In that case you can peek into little workshops, that still are busy doing the crafting of all sorts of goods. The super talented locals who sell all manner of unique wares that seem more than capable of finding that perfect gift for back home, actually. If I had to use one adjective, that would likely be charming. Like, the best word for those few streets. That actually includes the restaurants, the patios, and so many lovely little shops that beg you to drop in, I suppose.

Sacred Valley: A Glimpse into Inca Ingenuity

Very, the Sacred Valley tour really demonstrated how innovative the Inca people kinda had to be, like very inventive agricultural engineering, by the way. Just the idea that they used, of course, manpower is somewhat unbelievable if I am being true!

Alright, Machu Picchu. First of all it, uh, lives up to what people tell you, very! We took the train that just hugs the Urubamba River; kinda sets you up with how wild the scenery is as soon as the town drops out behind you! As a matter of fact, arriving at Aguas Calientes makes your belly fill with wonder.

Actually I had seen, a number of times, Machu Picchu in photographs before my visit and of course, nothing whatsoever compares to just glimpsing this “Lost City of the Incas” for that first occasion.
