Cusco Tecsecocha Cliffs Picnic Private: A Detailed Review
The Cusco area, that’s almost magical in so many ways, isn’t it? Yet, sometimes the big tourist spots get a little much. So, when I heard about the Tecsecocha Cliffs Picnic Private option, I thought, “Yeah, that might just be the thing to get me away from the crowds.” Basically, it sounded like this pretty amazing way to see a different face of the region, one that’s, well, a bit more personal and less like a conveyor belt of people taking pictures.
What’s the Deal with Tecsecocha Cliffs?
Tecsecocha, it’s sort of outside Cusco, you know? I mean, it isn’t smack-dab in the middle of everything. Instead, it’s like tucked away, sitting on this cliff edge. The thing is, its out-of-the-way location is very much the big sell, you see. What you get, you know, in effect, is this pretty quiet place with big sky views all the way around. We are talking way above the valley floor here. Is that going to give you peace? That sounds right.
From what I’ve read, Tecsecocha was actually super important back in the day. So, very, very old, I mean. We’re talking Inca times here, it’s almost a special location with sacred meanings and a great vantage point, and who doesn’t love a great view?. The idea, anyway, is that those ancient peoples thought a lot of it back then. In any case, they had a deep feel about the world around them, you know. In short, maybe that’s what I sensed when I went, I am not sure, it could be all the Pisco Sours from the night before.
Booking and Getting There: A Breeze, Very Easy, Basically
Arranging the private picnic at Tecsecocha, well, that was quite easy to set up. Like your private guides in the Andes who go out of their way to set this all up for you. After finding the tour and going with them, everything went quite swimmingly and quite simple. To be honest, my travel advisor did all of the work. You know how easy that is? Just send someone an email to say “Take care of it!”
The drive, that can be interesting, you know. So, winding roads take you up and out of Cusco and I love car rides, that aren’t for too long, while out of the city and towards Tecsecocha and up onto the hill. My ride included seeing small villages, so those tiny towns, basically the kind of spots you might skip if you were just beelining for the popular destinations. Honestly, I always think this bit gives you such a peek at the real, that’s, like, a living, breathing country. Seeing a little sliver is quite the experience.
The Picnic Itself: Views and Vittles, Delicious Food and the Panorama of the Views.
Alright, so, let’s talk about the good bit: the actual picnic. In short, they got everything all set up on this cliff edge. It’s a fantastic picnic spot in an excellent position to check the lay of the land, you know, blankets and cushions and it all, I am talking pillows and all. My advisors basically did all the arrangements for me. So I wasn’t that worried, to be frank.
And the food? Very, very tasty, I felt. What was particularly excellent were all the bits from Peru that came, they, for instance, had empanadas filled with different savoury and flavoursome and all Peruvian ingredients, to be perfectly honest. They had causa, this tasty layered potato thing. So, yeah, they didn’t slack with anything I picked out.
Very yummy food aside, you’ve also got the view. Is that to die for? Probably? Anyway, a wide, 360-degree beauty looking straight from Cusco straight over the Andes. We are talking mountains stretching for days here. I took a little bit of time with all the lunch going on because that’s very me, but honestly? That whole experience just chilled me out, just being up there was pretty unique, in some respects.
Adding Some Extra Oomph: Making It Your Own
The basic picnic, in a way, is grand as is. So, it just works out on its own. But what is even better is that your guides can add, sort of, other bits that just crank it up a level. For example, it’s worth taking into account live local Peruvian performers and other local musicians from town, maybe to serenade you while you get your snack. Alternatively, you can think of hiring a guide to take you on local historical Cusco tour for something that’s going to add that flavor in there.
Then there’s that idea of making a sunset happen there, just because. Is that the ultimate romantic move? Anyway, it makes memories you’re unlikely to lose very soon. Or think about something that I didn’t do but that I feel very regretful that I didn’t plan on at all – adding on a ceremony there from an indigenous priest or religious person of the ancient beliefs. Now I am saying it, that sounds great doesn’t it?
Things to Think About, so Important Advice, Basically.
Before you jump in, that said, think of one or two important elements to know for your visit to this glorious place.
- Altitude: Cusco, in a way, is high, very high indeed! Tecsecocha’s is rather a bit more uplifted than that. Very probably, make sure you’re ready to adapt to thin air prior to taking this particular day trip.
- Weather: You might know that it will swap without notice in those Andean areas. Layers will be key, too. Get ready for warmth and sun with protection from the chill or rain.
- What you wear: When up on those crags in a windy scenario. You definitely won’t enjoy showing your goods off so wearing supportive gear could keep you upright while checking those amazing scenes all over the land.
- Bring what you enjoy and like to have around. The main plus from going with private trips such as the one I went with. It makes stuff to fit what’s wanted for sure. In some way do not hesitate to enquire about different snacks, beverages or maybe tweaks so it gets how everyone prefers it for them too!.
Is there more to visit than those mountains, there is, very!
