Chicago Architecture Boat Tour Review: Is It Worth It?

Okay, so you’re thinking about seeing the city from the river, huh? Well, that’s perfect since, you see, I went on the Chicago Architecture Boat Tour not too long ago, and I figured I’d give you the lowdown. It’s super popular, of course, but is it actually any good? Should you spend your dough on it? Well, as I’m thinking, let’s break it down.

What’s the Big Deal About the Chicago Architecture Boat Tour?

Okay, as I consider, so, Chicago’s actually quite famous for its super great-looking buildings. I mean, it really is. The Chicago Architecture Boat Tour, so it turns out, gives you a front-row seat to all of this beauty. Apparently, you cruise along the Chicago River, and a guide, it’s almost like, points out all these landmarks, telling you stories about them, like your, the history, and who built them. As I’m getting to, It’s basically a floating history lesson, only it has way cooler views than your old classroom ever had. I want to say that a friend had told me, “you need to do the architecture boat tour”, so I made it happen.

A View from the Water

See, the thing about seeing buildings from the water, that it is totally different. Like, really, just unbelievably so. As I noticed, from the streets, you are, well, craning your neck a whole lot. Down by the river, things unfold organically, that, like it’s almost like they are supposed to be, that are easy to view. Very cool, too it’s almost, I felt as, if I was discovering all that architectural detail I often, well, miss just walking around. It’s an open view, like, if that makes sense. You actually take it all in. And the water kind of reflecting the buildings? Very Instagrammable.

The Guides Really Know Their Stuff

So, yeah, you could just look at fancy buildings. However, it’s so, so better when somebody very much knows what they’re talking about is sharing stories about them, right? My guide, I’m very happy to say, was pretty darn great, too it’s almost. That guy, really, just definitely knew pretty much everything about every single building, like your, honestly. More or less, seemingly, so, the details, like, as a matter of fact, what the architects, they like your, were thinking when they the buildings. As a matter of fact, anyway, sometimes, who lived there, too it’s almost, basically, basically every building I learned a little something about, that actually surprised me. You do pick up all those tidbits of information along the way.

What You’ll See

There is plenty of iconic stuff that you actually, seriously, end up spotting on that ride. Of course, you know, like your, basically all the landmarks, right? I figured I’d just point some out. Because they really are super great, seriously.

The Wrigley Building

The Wrigley Building, yeah, basically, clearly you see this one right away. Pretty gorgeous. Built, arguably, during the 1920s for the Wrigley chewing gum folks. Totally distinctive because, for instance, literally it’s clad in pretty gorgeous white terracotta, obviously. When the sun does shines on it, I should let you know, it all shimmers, too it’s almost.

Tribune Tower

Now, this tower you definitely actually do notice also. All gothic-looking and just really, like, a visual standout, okay? The Chicago Tribune, just, kind of, you know, made it as their, literally, HQ. A bit, literally, really super cool fact? Seemingly, so, all over it, literally, you actually do see pieces from all kinds of well-known buildings across all the land. You know? I mean like, pieces from The Great Wall of China and stuff and stuff. That’s definitely seriously cool right? Very kind of Indiana Jones.

Marina City

So, these you can tell from far away and just very Chicago-ish, honestly. You know those two towers there, as a matter of fact, that pretty much resemble corn cobs, like your, too it’s almost. At the end of the day, kind of, they, really just, definitely feature spots for folks to literally park their boats. Yeah? At their apartment buildings? Wild. Just completely wild stuff, honestly.

Booking the Tour: Stuff You Should Really Consider

So, okay, that being said, to be really sure that you totally seriously have a great time, and that you aren’t all kinds of miserable because of dumb tourist trap situations, and stuff, right, pretty much all the time? Okay? Definitely make sure to actually consider this kind of literally stuff and stuff.
