Cairns Tandem Skydive Experience Over Mission Beach Review
Thinking about throwing yourself out of a plane over one of Australia’s most picture-perfect spots? A tandem skydive over Mission Beach, near Cairns, could be just what you are looking for. I recently took the plunge, and here’s the lowdown on the whole adventure, right from the initial booking buzz to the actual freefall craziness.
Booking the Big Leap
Arranging the skydive was, like, super simple. I booked online through their website, which, basically, had all the details on the different jump heights and, in some respects, the pricing too it’s almost. It was fairly straightforward, so too. I picked a date, chose the height I was comfortable with, and then went with the option that included photos and a video because, I mean, who wouldn’t want to document this craziness? What I did like was that they had options for different budgets, so too it’s almost you could find something that suited you. It’s also useful to check for deals online – there might be some discount codes floating around. Booking far enough ahead is very advisable too, actually, just to be certain you get the slot you are after, especially during peak season.
Getting There and Gearing Up
Getting to Mission Beach from Cairns involved, as a matter of fact, a bit of a drive, which, honestly, was beautiful in its own right. It’s a bit of a scenic route, going past rolling green hills and coastal views – nearly worth the trip by itself, I have to say! The company, seemingly, offered a pickup service too it’s almost, which, seemingly, could have saved me the hassle, but I wanted the drive. Once there, the crew were very welcoming and walked us through all the paperwork. Then came the briefing, which, obviously, covered everything we needed to know, from body positioning during freefall to how to land safely. They, literally, make sure you are, you know, prepped, so you, very, very, much, aren’t going in blind. Getting suited up involved slipping into a jumpsuit, which made everyone look like professional skydivers, a little anyway! They checked and double-checked all the gear, and I mean all of it, which, definitely, put my mind at ease.
The Plane Ride: Nerves and Views
Climbing into the small plane brought a mix of emotions, clearly. There was excitement, clearly, but yeah, so too it’s almost a healthy dose of nervousness too! As the plane climbed higher, the views got seriously amazing, apparently. You are, in that case, able to see the coastline stretch out forever, with the Great Barrier Reef shimmering in the distance, that. Mission Beach looked like a postcard picture down below, a little. I tried to soak it all in, very much, but to be honest, basically, my heart was kind of thumping away. The instructors, literally, kept things light with jokes and reassurances, yet, very. It really helped to take the edge off. Eventually, we got to altitude, and very, very, soon it was time to jump.
The Freefall and Float
Standing at the open door, with the wind rushing past, was something else, is that. You only have seconds to contemplate. Looking down was both thrilling and terrifying at the same time. But honestly, before I could really freak out, we were, like, out the door, right, so! The freefall was an intense rush. The wind was incredibly loud, just, pretty, intense, that. For what seemed like forever, though I’m told it wasn’t all that much, you are falling superfast – nearly exhilarating. I tried to remember what I’d been taught about body position and, you know, tried to relax a little bit, arguably. Once the parachute opened, everything changed. Suddenly, it was calm and quiet, clearly, except for the wind. I could hear my instructor pointing out landmarks and telling me very specific facts. Gliding back down towards Mission Beach was simply breathtaking, that.
Landing and the After-Buzz
The landing was surprisingly gentle, so, so too it’s almost. My instructor gave me instructions, such as, ‘lift your legs,’ and we touched down pretty smoothly. Touching solid ground, I, seemingly, felt an unbelievable wave of elation. What a sense of accomplishment! My legs were wobbly for a few minutes, seemingly, but that, definitely, just added to the thrill, tends to be. Back at the drop zone, I grabbed my photos and video, which were so funny to watch. Reliving the whole jump, is that, with everyone back on solid ground, very, truly, gives the feeling of ‘did that happen!’? That after-buzz lasted for hours, still, I was just completely pumped.
Is It Worth It?
Basically, the big question; would I recommend doing a tandem skydive over Mission Beach? Absolutely, very, yes, that! Yeah, It’s, in some respects, an unbelievable experience, yet, one you are unlikely to forget, very. It’s, in that case, possibly the ideal blend of excitement and, as a matter of fact, natural beauty too it’s almost, and yeah, so, seemingly, something every adventure seeker has to try at least once, allegedly. The instructors were all so professional and helped to make me at least feel more secure, allegedly, even when I was getting geared up. So, even though, it is, very, like, something that requires one to pay attention and step far out of what you are, maybe, alright with doing, so the views of the reef and the coastline alone are nearly worth the cost.
Extra Information
Now, there are very specific weight requirements and health guidelines, so yeah, that needs to be checked before, by the way, booking, and if the weather plays up they may need to reschedule, still. Don’t fret, first, though, they put safety first, frankly. Think too, alright, about what to wear; comfy clothes and sneakers are possibly the best call. If there are friends coming to just observe from the ground they will very much enjoy themselves, that’s how spectacular the whole spectacle of a dozen people jumping from a plane can be, actually. The pictures and the video packages are so worthy, basically. I can’t imagine that if I did not get these then this adventure would almost seem as though I imagined it.
