Branson, Missouri, that is a place typically known for its family-friendly entertainment, and its dazzling array of shows just continue to pull in crowds year after year. I mean, really, with a town offering a tribute to almost any genre and performing, I want to give my honest thoughts about one such show I had the chance to attend, “Motown Downtown.” So, too it’s almost a fixture on the Branson strip, but, how does this show actually stack up against the town’s stiff entertainment competition?

The venue, which is the Dick Clark American Bandstand Theater, that does offer a cozy spot. It’s not too big, but certainly isn’t too cramped either, and provides a feel that lets you get closer to the performers. You see, getting there wasn’t hard at all, plus parking was, apparently easy and well-organized, too it’s something I appreciated right away. The staff there were all friendly and seemed ready, maybe very ready, to help, pointing everyone, seemingly in the correct direction. Once inside, the vibe was, actually a bit subdued, really waiting to turn itself up, so, it would match what Motown music has to offer.

Now, the show bills itself, maybe very clearly, as a tribute to Motown’s greatest hits, that might make you think you have a rough idea of what’s to come. That being said, that anticipation was growing as I settled in. The pre-show music set a pleasant tone, even though it did sound a bit like a standard playlist that is typically pumped into theaters. Arguably, I felt the set up and overall buzz, basically needed to build just a little more hype and give everyone a better taste of what was around the corner.
