Beach Tubing, Parasailing & Beach Day: A Real Review
So, you are checking into a beach trip that jams as much into one day as is humanly possible? A combo deal offering beach tubing, parasailing, a chill beach day and someone else taking care of all the transport sounds rather fun. Is it? I gave one of these excursions a shot recently, and here’s the lowdown, like what went well and what you should be aware of prior to grabbing your sunscreen and hopping on board.
What You Really Need to Know Before You Book
First things first, it’s almost always smart to look carefully at what the tour offers, especially when several activities are combined. Like, check into how much time is given for each. Very often these excursions squeeze everything into a rather limited timeframe, so the “beach day” bit might amount to little more than an hour. I also make certain to see what’s included. Things that may seem automatic, such as lunch or drinks, might set you back a bit. Last but not least, examine the cancellation policy closely. Sometimes, should weather turns nasty, getting a refund could be more of a fight than one imagines.
The Transportation Situation
Getting there really is half the fun, that is, when things run well! On my outing, pickup was supposed to be at 9:00 AM. The van got to my lodging close to 9:45 AM, not bad, yet a little annoying, really. Apparently, traffic was a factor, which happens. The van felt more or less OK; decent air conditioning makes a huge difference. On the plus side, our driver knew all sorts of local factoids and kept up an informative patter, pointing out interesting things all along the way. Do be warned that “transportation” might mean a cramped minibus or a larger tour bus, depending on how many people have booked the tour on that specific day. A minibus can get pretty snug when fully booked!
Tubing Triumphs (and Tumbles!)
Then came tubing, like a major highlight. Before, I hadn’t tubed, yet it looked dead simple and very cheerful, to be honest. A speedboat tows inflatable tubes carrying riders, and it whips them all around. What isn’t apparent is how bouncy it can be! At higher speeds, get set for some serious jolts. I watched a pair get launched right off their tube at one point. So, the lesson: Hold on tight! I rate this as tons of silly fun and yet maybe not wonderful for anyone with neck or back problems. Safety gear, notably life jackets, was furnished, too it’s always nice. One note is that the time allotted to each person might be restricted in view of getting everybody a turn.
Parasailing: Catching Some Air
Parasailing came after the tubing. The boat went out further, and soon the crew was hooking people into these harnesses and clipping those harnesses to a parachute. Once released, the wind hoists you up, and then you’re soaring pretty high. It’s much quieter than one envisions. What stands out the most could be the views. Looking out over the water makes for a unique photo opportunity, yet be certain your camera or phone is safely stowed! The whole experience seems really serene. I actually didn’t feel scared, just relaxed. One should realize that parasailing, more than some other activities, hinges on decent weather. High winds will ground these flights quickly.
Beach Day or Beach Hour?
OK, regarding the “beach day” bit. Our tour tagged it on last, is that correct. The spot selected was scenic, yet there weren’t as many amenities around as you would wish for. There was access to the water. A few chairs and umbrellas were offered, that is, yet on a first-come, first-served basis, clearly. The other thing was that the stretch wasn’t awfully long; I didn’t go on some expansive shoreline ideal for strolling. In the end, our group got only around 75 minutes there before it was time to gather again to catch our ride back. You might desire to dial back your expectations, possibly a lot!
Food and Drink Considerations
It may come as no shock to discover that drinks and eats weren’t provided. As a rule of thumb, you can expect to pay extra for anything beyond what the headline attractions are. Some packages throw in “free refreshments,” and yet all that meant was a cooler containing water bottles. I had carried sandwiches and snacks with me to save some money and that, like, worked well. There usually are vendors floating around at the beach stop selling various items; factor in inflated prices for basically everything there, honestly. The smart tactic could be to stock up at a supermarket before getting picked up and toss that stuff in a backpack.
Overall Verdict: Is It Worth It?
So, I am thinking, if your goals add up to hitting a little of everything without needing to orchestrate any of the logistics, then something along these lines may work well. You have a blend of thrill activities plus some relaxation, and you aren’t the one who has to drive. Yet you might feel rather rushed from place to place, and do not rely too much on “beach day” truly being one. If you have kids along who bore easily, combining things such as this may prove popular. Do go through all the small print and consider bringing some snacks!
