My Personal Experience with an Ubud Photoshoot

Personal Photoshoot Experience

Very, recently, I decided to treat myself to an Ubud photoshoot during my trip. That way I can finally see if it was like, as amazing as all the pictures I saw on social media showed it to be. Now, choosing a package felt a bit complicated initially. Yet, very many of the different photography vendors are eager to guide you to find what might fit your preferences and your style.

I decided on, in the end, a two-hour package, involving two locations: the rice terraces and a nearby temple. The booking process was so very straightforward. The photographer, that, contacted me a day before, to confirm the details. Then, we discussed outfit choices. The photographer gave me advice on how best to prepare.

The morning of the shoot, that’s when I met my photographer, Putu. He’s, really, such a friendly local. I very soon felt relaxed and very comfortable with him. He clearly knows the rice terraces well. We very skillfully moved us around, to beat the crowds. Putu pointed out some superb viewpoints, I feel.

What I noticed most about working with him is that he provided superb direction for poses. His insights felt very valuable, too, about angles and composition. Like, honestly, I felt a little awkward initially. But, you see, Putu gave clear and good instructions and shared many laughs with me. It very soon felt just very natural, too. It turned out to be just so very relaxed.

The temple location presented different photo opportunities. The vibrant colors and stunning architecture, you know, really created a magical setting. I tried on, too, a traditional Balinese shawl that Putu provided, as an optional accessory.

Overall, my Ubud photoshoot was truly amazing and something so very memorable. Receiving the edited photos, actually, only took three days. Very much more quickly than I thought! When I first looked at the finished images I thought they were like, professionally edited and that, generally, captured the very essence of Ubud’s spirit. I found that I felt happy to have this experience. So, now I can say I have these photographs. That’s what I want to share. Because I can share these memories with friends and family, too.

So, to better illustrate what was awesome about this, here’s what I enjoyed about the photoshoot, because maybe this helps you:

Things to Think About Before You Book

Things to Consider

As excited as I was about all of it, there are a couple of potential watch-outs. This should maybe cause you to reflect a little.

  • Cost: Photoshoots can be kind of pricey. So, before you book, make certain it’s within your means, just in case.
  • Crowds: Well, Ubud, you see, gets crowded, specifically at the popular locations. Coordinate with your photographer to explore locations. That way they tend to be less trafficked, or you are shooting at odd times.
  • Weather: Bali’s, you know, climate is tropical. Rainfall should very much be expected at any time of the year. Yet, you should just check out the weather forecast. Pack an umbrella if you must, just to be safe.
  • Communication: That it’s important! Be as descriptive and open as you can be with your photographer when talking through any wishes or creative preferences. You and the photographer need to have an alignment. Because your photos will turn out even more unique because of it.

Finding the Right Photographer: Things to Ask

Find a good photographer

So, obviously the person holding the camera is pretty key. Here are some questions that you, similarly to what I did, may want to pose to possible photographers:

  • Portfolio: Have a careful look at a range of their previous work, not just the work shown in marketing materials, because maybe you feel like these materials do not speak as well to your style.
  • Experience: Learn how much they’ve shot locally, that that experience gives an advantage.
  • Style: Be certain that their photography style syncs with your personal aesthetic. Do you like bold? Moody? What are your preferences?
  • Pricing: Learn every aspect of what your money gives you. Is there the availability to buy prints afterward, and so forth.
