To me, it seems like an awesome way to experience all of this, that would really be to sign up for an interesting tour, specifically one led by a knowledgeable female guide.

Now, you might ask, why would I specifically look for a female guide? Well, to me it comes down to a couple of pretty good reasons. To actually hear about it from my guide, with her stories and really captivating way, breathed life into these old stones. Rather than simply spitting out a list of facts, she was really passionate about these stories of the pharaohs, some stories about what life could have been, the effort of building these ginormous structures. All of it, really, transported me a bit back in time.
We visited that Sphinx, that so iconic guardian. In some respects, I actually found myself a bit captivated by that history surrounding it. That sea of vendors wanting your attention could easily leave someone wanting to get straight out of there! But I’m glad to say that having a local expert, well that was definitely a boost. It let me enjoy it instead of dreading that chaos! Having my female guide really gave what I felt was insider tips. As a matter of fact, this part of the tour also explained what items were worth buying. As well as some history about that market and that bargaining etiquette.
Instead of feeling intimidated by vendors, I had confidence because I’m like ‘ok, my guide has already taught me how to manage this’. To stand before those relics from Tutankhamun’s tomb? Well that really felt like some experience!
I’d read things beforehand and really just saw pictures. It seemed very different when somebody’s telling you all these stories with passion.
