Luxor Guided Tour: Hatshepsut, Valley of Kings & Felucca Ride Review

Luxor Egypt

Visiting Luxor is, you know, very much like stepping into a place filled with lots of amazing old stories and stunning sights, basically. When planning my trip, I came across, actually, quite a lot of tours promising an experience that you won’t soon forget that, you know, covered the highlights – Hatshepsut Temple, the Valley of the Kings, and a relaxing felucca ride on the Nile that, you know, I definitely felt excited to try. So, you know, after doing a little digging and reading some reviews, I booked the ‘Luxor Hatshepsut Valley of Kings and Felucca Ride Guided Tour’ to see how good it, you know, really was. Here’s how that played out for me.

First Stop: The Majestic Temple of Hatshepsut

Temple of Hatshepsut

Our adventure kicked off, almost, with a visit to the Temple of Hatshepsut, a place that clearly showcases, you know, Egypt’s awesome past and how creative people were. Right from the get-go, the temple, with its cool terraces built into the rock face, just took my breath away. Learning about Hatshepsut, a really remarkable lady who ruled as pharaoh, made the visit, very, very much more interesting. The way our guide explained things, you know, with lots of interesting stories and a few historical facts, helped paint a very vivid image of what it was like way back when, in a way. The sheer scale and the super cool details, the statues, the reliefs, are worth, you know, taking pictures of at every possible angle.

Exploring the Valley of the Kings

Valley of the Kings

After spending the morning soaking in, too, the sights and history of Hatshepsut’s Temple, we then made our way over to the Valley of the Kings, almost, the place they chose to put lots of pharaohs’ tombs. Walking down into the tombs, filled with writings and, actually, drawings on the walls that are unbelievably well-preserved, was, actually, an experience. Our guide, well he did a very, very nice job explaining what all these writings and pictures meant, letting us peek into what the pharaohs believed back then. It’s kind of important to note, though, that you’re only allowed to take photos in some tombs and also that it gets pretty stuffy down there, so keep that, you know, firmly in mind, especially if you’re not very comfortable in close spaces.

Relaxing Felucca Ride on the Nile

Felucca Ride on the Nile

After visiting the Valley of the Kings, something really amazing waited: a leisurely felucca sail on the Nile. Being on that boat, very, very gently moving across the water while the wind kind of pushed us, was, you know, the perfect way to wind down and enjoy the scenery. With the sun starting to go down, the way the sky looked and the peacefulness of the Nile gave this experience such a magical vibe, almost, it really did. It gave us time, too, to look back at everything we did that day, surrounded by views that really did make you think, as well, about life, you know, especially in that part of the world.

The Guide and Transportation

Egypt Tour Guide

This part of the experience matters, yet it’s pretty easy to overlook the importance, too, of things like getting from one place to another and what the tour guide is, you know, really like. First, getting around was pretty smooth, which is always great. The vehicle was, apparently, very comfy and had air conditioning, which you’ll, you know, certainly want in the Egyptian heat. Our guide was, to be honest, awesome! They clearly knew a lot and were great at answering, actually, any question we had. More than that, the guide, too, knew how to tell stories that made history feel really alive. It wasn’t, for example, just dates and names; it was more like being told cool stories that really got me into, actually, everything we were seeing.

Food and Drink

Egyptian Food

Okay, so, a heads-up: this tour, generally speaking, may or may not take care of your eating and drinking needs, it really depends on the package. We had to sort of, very, very much, plan for our own lunch. It was, however, almost not a problem because our guide pointed us, like your GPS in the desert, to this super nice place where you can grab, that is, some real Egyptian food that wasn’t hard on our wallets. If you do this tour, well you may want to ask about if food and drinks are covered, or if not, then get some tips for where to eat and drink. Oh, also, definitely pack a water bottle for when you are walking around, just you, like, do not want to dry out!

What Could Be Better?

Tour Feedback

Everything went really well on our tour, seemingly, that is, but, you know, if I could tweak one or two small things, things could go from “fantastic” to something even better. Spending a tad more time at the Valley of the Kings would be pretty fantastic. There’s lots to see there and really take in, very, very much, but the clock watches over all our shoulders! I also felt, though, that maybe adding a much cooler space, like a small air-conditioned room at the Valley of the Kings, for taking a quick break from the heat, especially during the day, would be great, too, since, you know, it gets unbelievably hot. These, though, are small things and did not stop us, not really, from loving everything.

Overall Thoughts

Happy Tourists

All in all, I would very highly recommend the ‘Luxor Hatshepsut Valley of Kings and Felucca Ride Guided Tour’. This tour offers a very well-rounded look at the ancient wonders and awesome scenery near Luxor that really gives you your money’s worth. I took so much more, nearly, than just some pics; I brought back a ton of memories, too, and a much bigger love, almost, for old Egyptian stories. So, if seeing these famous sites is on your list, really make this trip a high priority because you may just find this particular tour is fantastic for what you’re looking for.
