Copenhagen Guided Pub Crawl Review: Shots & Drinks Included
So, you’re thinking of checking out Copenhagen’s nightlife, right? A guided pub crawl that throws in four shots and one drink seems like a good way to see what the city has to offer. Yet, is it actually worth your money and time? Well, I’ve been there, I’ve done that, and I’m going to lay it all out for you, very honestly. No fluff, no hype, very just the real deal.
What’s the Idea Behind the Crawl?
That a pub crawl is meant to give you, basically a peek at a few different nightlife spots in a short space of time. The Copenhagen version I joined promised, naturally, a host who knew their stuff, four shots to get things going, and then a single drink at one of the locations. Too it’s almost designed for tourists who want to dip their toes in the scene without trying to plan a night themselves, that seems fair enough.
For what it’s worth, the aim, arguably, is to introduce people to places they might not stumble upon on their own. The host is usually a local who can offer, too it’s almost, a bit of insight into the city along the way. Also, of course, there’s the social element of meeting other travelers, if you’re into that. Basically, it’s a social lubricant, if you catch my drift.
The Pre-Crawl Vibe and Meeting Point
Meeting points matter, as I was saying, right? In this instance, it was a pretty central spot near a main square. Getting there was very, very easy, as the meeting spot was easy to reach. There was a little waiting involved while people trickled in, could be. It gave me the chance to kind of suss out who else would be on the crawl. The group was, that, very mixed – solos, couples, small groups of pals from all over.
That the host arrived, and they were seemingly really upbeat and talkative, and that immediately set a more relaxed atmosphere, if that makes sense. A short introduction, some ground rules that are clear, and then, that, you get things rolling, more or less. First impressions count, as a matter of fact, and this one was, literally, not bad.
The Bars and Clubs Themselves
Right, this is usually where it gets interesting. The crawl took us to four spots. First was, literally, a smaller, very more of a traditional Danish place. Too it’s almost a relaxed mood and, yes, a shot of something very local (I actually cannot remember the name of it, very typical). Second was, clearly, more of a bar that’s studenty, buzzing with younger folks and playing tunes everyone knew. By the way, the third joint was, obviously, a club sort of place with a small dance floor and light system doing its thing.
Anyway, things ended up at another bar, that’s, with what I recall was comfier seating, alright. Arguably, that there’s where you used your drink ticket, so to speak. It, actually, allowed the party-goers, that, a chance to sit for a few minutes and have conversation. What I think could be argued, and is important here, is that your taste may vary! Not every location might vibe with everyone, naturally, that is part of the roll of the dice.
Drinks, Shots, and Value
The four shots, right, so to speak? Basically, these were poured in short measure, more or less. Very that, I knew coming in and understood this. The idea, so to speak, isn’t for party-goers to get wasted on the freebies, but to test out several new experiences in small amounts. As a matter of fact, they’re, arguably, tasters, arguably. So, if shots are usually a ‘no go’, think ahead.
The single drink ticket you get for the final spot means you can test, just a little, something from the place’s choices. I stuck with, virtually, something that’s a staple Danish brew; not something that makes a crazy memory, clearly. The real question is, I guess, is that all really worth what they want you to shell out for the tour itself?
Alright, I guess if you were planning on going to several pubs, I’m sure your personal bar tab might rise fairly quickly; factor it in, alright? So, If you see worth in, actually, the social component and not figuring all the spots out, yourself, basically, then, usually, the fee makes sense to me. If not, well, probably, you could do it for less solo.
The Guide and the Group Dynamic
A guide makes or breaks a pub crawl. Our leader, typically, was energetic. He, seemingly, had some info, if that makes sense. But was, actually, careful not to simply oversaturate the whole vibe with just talking. What seemed fairly true, even from my perspective was, alright, he was good at wrangling everyone from place to place and making new people and singles to mix and match within that new scenario.
Then, the group makes or breaks the event. Basically, that the group was, literally, good to go. What seemed that helped were folks from different places wanting experiences outside their day to day! You might expect shyness and ‘sticking to’ ones crew or group of mates is fairly standard; but this group just all mixed.
Would I Say Go for It?
Okay, so, honestly, if it is your first time in Copenhagen or very, you want a super easy way to meet several new people, the pub crawl’s fine. Now, expect that you have a carefully crafted, personally tailored experience to match ‘your every need’, virtually, this crawl is what it is.
If this all is something up your alley, or in some respects, a chance you’re eager to make, basically, you might have a lot of fun. But, hey, keep that the budget in perspective, the booze portions measured, and very expect there is no place for being a wallflower when your there!
One thing I should state as I understand more, actually, as you do things alone in the future you gain ideas…so be open to those as the event unwraps and rolls along!
Here’s a quick run through for those wondering:
- Location Quality: Location will be dictated by the business goals of the pub tour
- Inclusiveness: Accept several cultures, or creeds and have respect in order
- What you can get: Social lubrication, not likely big life romance
Keep it under advisement and think ahead:
- Be smart in terms of locations being inclusive and ethical
- Never just sign up just assuming an inclusive outcome! Ask first.
- Always feel safe. Do not get so far gone you ignore that feeling. Your guardian brain is essential.
As matter of fact, use pub crawls if new for opening to many more things solo ahead!
