Most of the meals are set up buffet-style, actually, and it’s got some western options alongside the Chinese fare. As a matter of fact I will say I tended to stick to the local stuff—when you’re in China, just a little, you eat Chinese food! Their take on Kung Pao chicken was seriously killer, I mean really good, but some other things? Maybe not quite as stellar, I’m telling you. That Western food tastes almost like cafeteria food and stuff. Still, you will be find something delicious for every single meal, as a matter of fact.

For that more “refined dining experience”, which I wanted for some nights too, so too the ship has an a la carte restaurant. I would suggest it. As I was saying, that environment is calmer and they’ve put in more effort with the food, if you feel like a nicer experience. Is that an experience I will remember fondly? Yes. Is it like you eating at Michelin-restaurant? Absolutely not. Overall: Expect it is more quality than quantity!

Daily Activities and Entertainment

You know, so this is where the cruise can feels like more cruise-y than other trips. And then, they tend to schedule activities constantly from tai chi in the mornings to nightly shows. A bit can come off kind of touristy, like your calligraphy lessons or mahjong games, actually, that tend to be pretty cool ways to immerse yourself and learn more stuff about Chinese culture. I mean, you do have free time. But if you are trying to experience something then there is lots to do too, and stuff.

That night entertainment tends to be where some travelers checked out. Depending on what your group or expectations tends to be too. As I was saying, if you are trying to relax this might not be it! The performers clearly just a little put in lots of effort, I think, yet that stuff is probably better fit for a very, very specific sense of aesthetics to enjoy everything.

Then you could be find with what comes, so be aware before stepping into the boat! And if the cost comes just a little cheaper maybe you should go somewhere else instead!
