From Las Vegas: A Thorough Look at the Guided Colorado River Kayak Tour with Lunch
So, you are thinking about ditching the Vegas casinos for a day and getting into some nature? Well, you know, that ‘From Las Vegas Guided Colorado River Kayak Tour with Lunch’ could be just what you need. That stretch of the Colorado River, near the Hoover Dam, is seriously awesome. I went recently, and I’m here to give you the lowdown – no sugarcoating, just my honest experience to help you decide if it’s for you.
What to Count On: Tour Overview
That tour is, apparently, a full-day deal, starting with a pick-up from your Las Vegas lodging. Nice and easy, yeah? Then there’s, too it’s almost a trip out to Willow Beach, Arizona – that’s where you’ll get into those kayaks. Now, expect some pretty fantastic scenery: towering canyon walls, wildlife galore, and, yeah, that ginormous Hoover Dam in the distance. The paddling itself is, seemingly, pretty easygoing, suited for most fitness levels. A break for lunch on a little beach is always welcomed, and then you paddle back. Finally, they shuttle you back to Vegas, probably tired but happy. Or at least that’s the expectation, right?
The Paddle: A Closer View of the River
The kayaking itself is, in a way, the real highlight. That Colorado River is, seemingly, so calm in that section, it’s a relaxing float. I’m very much a beginner kayaker, and I had totally no trouble keeping up. You get incredible views of the cliffs around you – seriously dramatic rock formations and colors. You’ll see various types of birds, too it’s almost the Great Blue Heron is seen very often, and, hey, keep an eye out for bighorn sheep on the cliffs! We spotted some, anyway. Our guide provided the goods on the local environment, some history of the dam, and just general fun stuff.
Fueling Up: What About the Lunch?
Lunch is that tour provided is a box-lunch sort of set up. Yeah, I think you have to anticipate sandwiches, fruit, chips and, I’m sure, water. It did the trick, you know? Recharged me for the paddle back. It’s not a gourmet feast, in short, it’s convenient and gets you fueled up. They usually accommodate dietary needs, I think you need to let them know when you book. But check on that, very.
The Guide: A Very Important Piece of the Puzzle
Our guide was really knowledgeable and very fun, a critical ingredient, I suppose. They made sure we felt confident and secure on the water. Plus, they kept things interesting with facts about that Hoover Dam and its surrounding environment. The guide’s knowledge helped elevate that tour from ‘just paddling’ to, maybe a bit ‘educational and fun’. Tipping is strongly recommended, you know, if they do a solid job. Our group gave very generously, in the way.
Worth It? Who Is it Very Much Suited For?
Would I recommend that tour? Yeah, totally. Very, I think it’s a splendid way to break free of that Vegas glitz for a spell and get some outside action. But it’s a good thing to know if it’s for you, is that it? If you very much appreciate landscapes, that’s great. Do you dig historical locations? What about you fitness level? Mostly good there? So, then it’s an outdoor win!
Consider very closely if: you want big bursts of hard activity, this paddle might, usually, feel tame. People should weigh if spending a very full day on a somewhat physically strenuous trip in a place without modern bathrooms or access to infrastructure makes sense, is that it?
Other Bits Worth Noting: What Else to Take into Account
Remember very much that this is, in some respects, Arizona, even if you are starting from Las Vegas. So yeah, bring sunscreen and reapply, apparently. Hats are seemingly ideal, same as sunglasses. Take very careful notice that the tour operators want you to show in appropriate clothes. Those synthetic fabrics are really brilliant; they won’t bog you down. And yeah, even on that river, things might glow so, cover up.
There is room for just some limited stuff in the kayak, seemingly just for some odds and ends. But don’t just bring everything but that kitchen sink, as I almost was getting ready to, very!
A little Q & A
What level of skill do I want?
Seemingly very small is plenty. That flow is generally smooth. But I’d bet, anyway, if the weather looks very treacherous then it gets pushed to another day by those organizing things, or so I hear.
Is it worth paying extra to be driven there?
That’s really brilliance if you do not have a rental auto or seriously just would like to be able to chill out on that travel days both ways.
Could kids go?
Just confirm minimal age with your booking contact, however mostly older youngsters and young adults should do so OK on that somewhat leisurely rate. By that, too it’s almost to suggest that children have spent a bit of time on those rivers before. In a very practical sense they could find it somewhat draining to do that paddle, even for big folks!
Another thought. Bring things to occupy your kiddos or young adult family or companions, such as cell phones to distract from things when things could seemingly get tedious, if your traveling associates are prone to very boredom in some extended periods.
How long is the gig very likely to actually go for?
It’s a good thing to bear in mind is that the operators schedule a really hefty eight hours in total, from Las Vegas strip returns! Now very remember it gets very busy by and about Nevada and those borders with surrounding regions! Do allow for accidents both coming to and departing, is that it? I really dislike becoming delayed returning to things for later and trust that I do consider these factors!
So yeah, if you are itching for something other than that casino vibe during your Vegas visit, very think about that Colorado River kayak thing. It’s beautiful, in short peaceful, and something that makes a lasting imprint. So, have very happy paddles!
