Lima Paramotor Sky Tour Review: A Bird’s-Eye View of Peru
Have you ever wondered what it feels like to see a city from above, not in a plane, not on top of a skyscraper, but floating, just gently floating in the air? I went on the Lima Paramotor Sky Tour by Air Paragliding, and believe me, it’s one of those experiences that kind of changes how you look at the ground. So, this is basically my story about drifting over Peru’s gorgeous landscape.
The Thrill of Taking Off: Getting Started with Air Paragliding
Okay, so, first things first, getting to the Air Paragliding spot isn’t too hard, it’s a bit of a drive from central Lima, really. Anyway, as you show up, you will see the team actually getting everything ready, and these folks, they seem pretty serious about safety. The instructor, seemed like an actual pro, walking me through the equipment, showing me the parachute, and running over what to actually expect. What I do want to share is that having a professional walk you through all of the steps before your tour eases your nerves quite a bit.
As the engine starts humming, so, too it’s almost as if it wakes up the adventurer in you, right? Strapped in with my pilot, giving the thumbs-up, and honestly, the ground disappears beneath your feet sooner than you can prepare for. That rush when you take off is, that, unforgettable. As you go up higher, all you really hear is the engine and the wind; still, your heart is basically beating like crazy. What an intro.
A Different Look: Seeing Lima from the Sky
Seeing Lima from up high actually reshaped how I see cities, I’m not even joking. The buildings suddenly seemed like very small blocks, that. Traffic transforms into this crawling line, and the coastline; just, the coastline stretches further than what you might expect. Gliding down the coast is where it’s at, just the cliffs dropping away as you cruise right on by. It felt like something from a film; anyway, every turn is a picture-postcard scene. With that warm sun on your face, even for a moment you might feel as if you’re in paradise.
In the past, the shanty towns, normally just kind of sad areas to think about on the ground, became sprawling patterns from above, and is that interesting. You begin to notice the unexpected shapes that man has created. And that water—that glittering Pacific—right beside the stark desert, still blows the mind.
Moments That Matter: What Makes the Tour Memorable
So, there were these things I saw and felt up there that, I think, truly made it an experience I can actually call ‘special.’ Flying down near some old ruins, seeing these reminders of what happened so many centuries before, just so tiny now, that just hit home for me. It feels like being pulled gently through time, and believe me, there are few things better than moments like these.
Plus, what truly took the adventure up a notch, that was actually the pilot showing me a couple of tricks with the paramotor. Turns that have you suddenly heading for the ground, then sharply back up, or hovering right over a spot for you to enjoy the moment a bit, those things actually spiced it up a little. Yet, what’s cool is these aren’t part of the basic tour thing. The guys there do need to see that you’re up for it, but if you are, trust me, ask!
Who Should Try This?: Is It For You?
Alright, let’s get straight to it: is that tour for you? If you’re just all about having adventures and going somewhere wild, then it’s a big yes. Still, that’s actually important. Even for the fainthearted folks among us—maybe just the thought of going up there gives them the jitters—trust me, this one actually changes you.
What I’m driving at is that being up there feels safe; I’m being honest. The Air Paragliding people really focus on the whole safety bit; too it’s almost more important to them than it is to you, believe me. The pilots are seriously good, and that. Having said that, it doesn’t actually hurt if you aren’t really scared of heights or a bit of wind in your hair. In particular, this is actually something different if you’re doing a solo trip—just makes you see the landscape, yet life in general, with totally different eyes. Just saying!
Making It Happen: Important Details and Recommendations
Okay, planning is essential, and is that right. Book in advance, especially in what I would say are the touristy months. Also, what’s worth considering is that weather decides whether it actually happens that day; therefore, have a backup or two planned. Talking of which, is that important; too it’s almost a need. Now, get this: mornings are best. So, the light is nice for pictures, plus it avoids a pretty strong wind in the afternoons.
Make sure your clothes are just easy stuff, anyway, something where you can move easily. Take shades, that, and actually slap on sun cream—seriously, up there, that sun basically roasts you. And oh, hold your camera nice and tight or just go for the GoPro strap setup—you actually don’t want to lose that phone somewhere above Pachacamac. One of the things people also do not realize is the level of heat! Also, is that worth saying.
Last tip from me. You could tell the pilot what parts interest you in Peru, it would make your experience very person. Don’t forget you are a patron and should try to maximize this experience with them!
- Book Ahead: Very important to get a slot.
- Weather-Check: Check what’s coming.
- Morning Flight: Better conditions, honestly.
- Dress Comfortably: Comfortable clothing, comfortable experiences.
- Sun Protection: Don’t forget sunglasses and sunscreen.
Now, it might sound like a risk that can be off putting. Just put on your imaginary cap and be brave! I hope that that works!
All things said and done, what did I like most during this excursion? The rush of being above everything and not beneath things, anyway!
